Someone knocked on my dorm room. Huh, that's weird, nobody comes this late at night. I was in my booty shorts and a baggy shirt, ready to sleep. Dread covers my spine, please don't let it be another attack.
"It's open," I speak out, a small boy appears, looking a little distraught.
"Alpha, Margot sent me, you are needed," Sybilla wakes up and starts growling, ready to kill.
"Why? What happened?" I get up and start walking towards the door. The boy gulps down and I recognize Galo, a skinny 16-year-old who is learning how to cook with Margot. He is her apprentice.
"I don't know, she didn't explain it, she just looked mad and told me to fetch you," We were now both going down the stairs, I was taking a faster pace, and almost turning to the kitchens.
"No, Alpha, she is in the cells. She is helping with one of the prisoners," I make a 180 turn and look at Galo who is halfway through the hall, going to the stairs. I groan.
Please, let it not be my mate.
Who am I kidding, knowing my luck, it was most likely him. And as I enter the cells, I hear a distinctive growl. Yes, it was him and he was in pain or something.
"What's happening here?" I command the soldiers on duty, they all look rather pale, considering our dark complexion.
I look around and see Margot opening cell number 27 as if nothing is happening. Behind her I just see a mess in the cell, the feathers of the pillow floating everywhere, the bed was trashed and I could see food on the floor.
"What the fuck is going on here?!" I was livid.
I had three guards that looked like they were going to shit myself, a mate making a mess out of his room, and a Margot who was glaring at me.
'It's you.' She signs, glaring at me even more. I give her a small growl.
"Go do some rounds outside, I'll take care of this mess," I tell the four people who were still here.
They leave almost immediately, without even a 'Yes, Alpha'.
I roll my eyes and look back at my caregiver, raising my eyebrow and nodding at her to explain.
'He is in pain. You did not talk to him all night. And he is the only prisoner behind bars when all the others are sleeping in nice rooms. He is hurting and looks really in deep pain. I don't know if this is a love thing or a wolf thing.' She chastises me, making me grow even more confused and angry than I was.
'This is not my fault.' I sign back and she rolls her eyes. "He is the one who is most connected with this case than any other," I tell her, switching to speech.
My sign language becomes limited when I have to explain a longer phrase. 'He is just under more surveillance than the others', "That's all."
She gives a mad stare and I know I am not out of the woods. 'And why didn't you talk to him? He is your soulmate.' My turn to roll my eyes and groan.
"Stop it with the soulmate," I snap.
'It doesn't mean shit to me.' I angrily sign.
'Bullshit'
I grit my teeth, mad as hell.
I was supposed to be sleeping right now.
I had a long week and now this.
I have a petulant child as a mate.
'I will tell you this once.' She snaps her finger to make her point even clearer. She was mad as hell too and she doesn't like it when I snap at her.
