1: The reason Mordecai has 'lad' in his vocabulary is because of the The Spook in the Ward Chronicles. The Spook often calls Tom 'lad' and Mordecai is slightly based off of The Spook.

2: Libra doesn't care about people's opinions on her appearance because she always thought people would think she was a freak for having two different eye colours. Capricorn, on the other hand, was raised by her father to always keep up appearances and to always look like 'royalty.'

3: Aquarius is very distant and can even be cold to people she doesn't know very well yet as it is hard for her to trust people. This is due to her being a child and a demon (disguised as a boy she liked at the time) tried to kill her. She was lucky Scorpio saved her!
