Chapter 35: Aquarius

It was the worst pain Aquarius had ever felt in her life. She was clutching her head in agony, and was sat on the floor, screaming out in pain.

To get their memories back, Hypnos had produced an orb that was white and put it into their forehead. He then had quickly drawn a small rune on her forehead, that caused white markings to appear all over her body and for a few seconds she had a dull headache. Then the pain had exploded within her and she couldn't control herself.

She screamed wildly, repeatedly cursing, as Leo, Taurus and Scorpio did the same. Only four signs at a time were getting their memories back at a time and those four had been the first to volunteer.

Aquarius was in her own room that Hypnos had provided and he had said it depended on the person's vitality and endurance how long the pain lasted. She felt as if it had been forever.

"Fuck!" She yelled for the hundredth time, punching the ground in frustration. She wasn't wearing any sort of armour and so this hurt her fist, but she didn't care. It offered a small reprieve from the excruciating pain coming from her forehead.

Hypnos had also said his food was laced with a helpful potion that was meant to heighten their resistance to pain. If this was with reduced torture, Aquarius didn't even want to think about what the maximum pain of getting her memories back would be.

It felt as if lightning had suddenly coursed through her, as she arched her back and fell onto it. As she lay face up, her throat closed up and she couldn't breathe for a few seconds, before the pain shifted and now it was like she was being burned alive. She tried putting out the imaginary flames and the pain shifted once again and she thought someone was putting a sword right into her brain. She sat up and yelled in agony, but thought no one would come to help her. She had to face this herself.

She again punched the ground and her hand hurt again, but her brain didn't focus on it and was still trying to stop the pain that was already in her head and body.

She charged her magic power and as she screamed, let it all out and caused a shockblast that caused cracks in the wall - they were meant to be fortified so magic couldn't penetrate them. Aquarius then fell back lay on the ground, her head in immeasurable pain and the rest of her body was in a dull ache. She didn't even have the strength to move an inch and her eyes were opening in and out of consciousness.

She knew she wouldn't be able to fall asleep - the pain spiked up and she would shudder for a few seconds before going back to normal. Eventually, however, after what seemed like an eternity, the pain filled and she was able to fall asleep. She welcomed the darkness that enveloped her with open arms...

Aquarius woke and aside from feeling a little groggy, the pain had mainly stopped. Her head still had a bit of dull ache, but it was nothing she couldn't handle. She also noticed the white markings had disappeared off her body and Aquarius begun remembering some of her past...

She remembered a white room, filled with all kind of torture materials and her being strapped to a machine that sent high voltage lightning through her body. She was a child at the time and couldn't believe this was being done to her. She clutched her temple as she remembered the 'professor' who had been the one to capture and torture her. She felt a memory coming back to her...

"Then I'll give you an injection and you'll be on your way," the professor said to her.

Aquarius didn't reply. She had no interest in talking to him.

He walked over to her and ran his head down to the side of her head. "Dear Aquarius, you are good-hearted and kind, which is all very well and good, but it stops your progress here. I need your anger and hatred to show more."
