"Hey Jamie," Nick said as he came down the hall toward my desk. "Can you please do me a huge favor?"
I nodded as I put my pen down and looked up to meet his eyes. "I sure can. Now that Pen isn't here, my workload is a lot lighter," I joked with a smile. "What can I do for ya?"
"Allie should be here in a half hour... Please let me know when she comes in? And then for while we are gone, I will drop off a few things that I'll need copies of for tomorrow's meeting," he requested.
I nodded. "Of course I can," I replied. "That report that you wanted for tomorrow's meeting is in your mailbox. Do you want this stuff in your mailbox, too? Or on your desk?"
"In my mailbox is fine. Thank you so much," he said. "Have you heard from Julian or my sister at all?" His eyebrows were arched in question.
I shook my head. "I haven't... But Danny said that Julian sent him a selfie of him and Pen eating ice cream last night. I'm pretty jealous! It must be really warm there this time of the year."
Nick chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, it must be. But then again, anything is warmer than Boston this time of the year," he shot back as he slowly began to back down the hall toward his office. "I gotta go! It sounds like my phone is ringing!"
"Alright! I'll let you know when Allie is here," I replied as I looked back down to the paperwork I was filling out. "Ugh... Who on earth put a 43 when its supposed to be a 53? What if I wasn't proofreading?" I grumbled to myself.
I had no idea how long I was stuck in the paperwork, but I was shaken out of my concentration by the elevator dinging and the doors sliding open. I looked up to see Allie move through the doors.
"Hey Allie," I smiled, not missing the much more defined shape of her stomach. "How are you?"
Her left hand moved up and rested on her stomach. "I'm pretty good. Really hungry right now though," she said with a giggle. "You would not believe how much I am craving spaghetti right now!"
I giggled in return. "Oh gosh! At least it's not a weird craving," I replied as I turned in my chair to grab the phone so I could call Nick to inform him Allie was there.
Once I did so, I turned back to her with a big smile still on my face. "Last night the craving was shredded parmesan cheese... Like straight from the bottle," she said with a laugh. "Can you tell the baby is gonna love italian food?"
I smiled. "Of course. But then again, who can pass up some good spaghetti," I replied.
Before I could say anything else, Nick came down the hall. "Hey babe! How are you today," he asked as he moved up to her and pulled her in for a hug and kiss.
Her hands moved up so they were flat on his chest as she smiled up at him. "I'm doing good. I'm so ready for food though," she replied.
"Well, I guess that's our cue then," Nick said as he began pulling her toward the elevator she'd just come out of. As they waited, he turned back, and looked at me with a big smile. "After you make those copies for me, you can head home for the day Jamie. Have a great night!"
My eyes widened. Holy shit. I was getting to go home! I nodded as the two of them moved into the elevator. "Thank you. You two have a great rest of your days," I replied with a big smile.
Now just to get those copies done. I couldn't wait to get home to my boys.

I let out a sigh as I stared up at the steps in my apartment building. The damn elevator was out of order, and my feet were killing me. I rolled my eyes as I pulled my heels off and pushed my way up the steps.
Why did I have to live on the third floor?
When I finally made it, I practically dragged my feet to my door. I had no clue if Danny and Clay had made it back from the dog park, and quite frankly I was praying that they did. I missed my boys.
I unlocked the door and pushed my way in to immediately see Danny lying on the floor and Clay jump around on top of him on the livingroom floor-- wrestling. It was quite the view if you asked me.
"Woah! No! My fingers aren't your chew toy," Danny said through a fit of chuckles as he grabbed one of Clay's ears.
Clay only barked back at him as he dove in to lick Danny's face. I began to giggle at the view. Was this really what these two would be up to when I wasn't around? "How long have y'all been doing this?" I asked as I closed the door behind me.
Danny's arms wrapped around Clay, to pin him in place. "Jamie? What are you doing home so early," he asked, his brown eyes wide. Clay began licking at his stubble, like usual.
"Well," I said slowly as I watched the two of them with amusement. "There wasn't much happening at the office so Nick let me leave early... Now how long have you two been going at it?" I questioned with a giggle.
Danny's arms were wrapped tightly around Clay's frame, like he was going to lose him; however, it was clear that Clay didn't want to leave his arms as he pawed Danny's chin. "Clay! No pawing me!" Danny said with a chuckle as he took Clay's paw and put it back on his chest. "We just got home from the park like twenty minutes ago, why are you still so crazy?!"
I laughed as I dropped my purse and heels to the ground. In one quick maneuver, Danny was able to get up and bring Clay with him-- cradling him like a baby.
"Ugh! Clay, you really need to ease up on the kibble," Danny grunted as he moved over toward me with a smile. Clay easily leaned against his chest and kept on licking at Danny's stubble.
I pouted at Danny as I leaned in for a quick kiss. "He's a growing boy! He needs his food! He needs to stop growing up so fast," I whined as we pulled away.
Clay turned his attention from Danny to me, and began panting, looking right into my eyes. "You gotta stop growing up on me," I told him as I brought my hand up to rub his stomach.
He let out a loud bark as I looked from him to Danny. "Have you had lunch yet," I asked once I met his big brown eyes.
Danny shook his head as he moved to put Clay on the ground. "No, I was just about to look in your kitchen to see what I could make... But since you're home, maybe the two of us could go out?"
Clay began sniffing at our feet as I nodded. "That sounds great. What do you have in mind?" I asked as we walked further into the living room.
"Anything, as long as I'm with you," he said with a big grin.

"So, I've been thinking," Danny said before he took a sip of his water. Those big brown eyes were looking back at me with such content-- I could've melted.
"Whatcha been thinking about," I asked with an eyebrow raised in question. We'd probably been done eating for five minutes and were waiting for the check.
"Since you'll be moving in... Maybe you could be helping me decorate some of the place? Get new furniture? Ya know..." He awkwardly trailed off, squinting his eyes, like he always did when he was nervous.
"Why would you want to redecorate? It's just the way you want it, right," I asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"Well yeah... The only thing that could make it better is you and Clay being there permanently," He said. "I-I just thought you may want to do something to make it feel like yours, too."
"Ugh... Danny," I mumbled as I looked down at the table and shook my head. I looked up to meet worried brown eyes. "Clay and I already spend a lot of time at your place... It already is like home, and if it didn't feel like home I never would have agreed to move in. Your home..."
I leaned across the table and grabbed his hand. "Our soon to be home... Is absolutely perfect the way it is," I told him.
"Are... Are you sure? " He asked, still sounding worried.
I nodded. "One thousand percent sure, Danny. Home is wherever you are," I told him with a smile. "I love you so much."
