"Do you mind giving me a ride home," Danny asked as we walked toward the baggage claim. "Jules was my ride here, and now he's gone with Pen."

I squeezed his hand a little tighter and nodded. "Of course. I need to pick Clay up, too... Do you want to come with," I asked.

"Yes!" he said all too quickly, then paused and nodded slowly. "I mean, sure... I kinda miss the little guy. It's been way too long."

I smiled at him and shook my head. "You mean since the night you took me home before Christmas? When I practically drank the bar dry?"

I met his eyes, confusion swimming in them. "Yeah," he whispered. "Three months is a long time, Jamie... D-Did Julian tell you? About that night?"

I shook my head. "I remember it perfectly, well up until walking into my front door. I only agreed to go out that night because Julian told Penny you wouldn't be back from Texas until after Christmas. When you walked in, my heart broke, at first, I thought you showed up for me, then I reminded myself about how I shut you out, and how stupid I was-- so I began to drink," I whispered. "And then when you came to help me home, it was like I was in a trance. I had to go with you... I knew I trusted you. Penny mentioned you and Clay's interaction it to me after new years... Asked why I was still wearing the necklace."

"I seem to recall that you calling my home state Extas," he said, a small smile on his face. I rolled my eyes. "I was so pissed at Jules when I saw that necklace sitting on your dresser. H-Have you taken it off since then?"

I shook my head. "How could I take it off? It was the first time I really felt appreciated. I couldn't believe it," I said.

"I got it for you, and then you broke up with me... It was going to be my thanksgiving gift to you," he whispered. "God, you know, I could've killed Jules. He took it out of the garbage."

I chuckled. "What about when you went to snuggle with Clay? Was he good for you," I asked, curious if Clay was still okay with him. I didn't know why he wouldn't have been, that dog was attached to Danny.

Danny shrugged. "Yeah, he was fine. But I did notice that he had my hoodie, did you know he took it," Danny questioned.

I nodded. "He pulled it out of the box I had of your stuff... When I tried to take it from him, all he'd do was bark at me and try to get it again... I gave in and let him keep it," I replied.

"So the little dude misses me as much as I miss him then," Danny said as we got to the baggage claim where everyone else was standing.

I shook my head. "No Danny, I don't think anyone could miss someone more than you miss Clay." I smiled up at him and giggled.

Danny rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I hate to break it to ya, but I missed you more than I missed Clay," he shot back, amusement playing in his eyes.

I rolled my eyes. "Why would that be a bad thing? It's good to know you missed me." I shot him a wink.

Danny let out a huff as I shifted the car into park. "What's wrong," I asked, looking at him in confusion. He'd been bouncing his feet non stop the entire ride to the pet daycare.

When he looked back at me, he looked like a deer caught in headlights. "What... What if he doesn't remember me? I don't know what I'd do," Danny said quietly.

I rolled my eyes as I pulled the keys out of the ignition. "You're kidding, right Danny?" I asked with a slight giggle. He just looked at me and didn't say anything. "You're talking about the dog that would bark at the TV anytime you were on it during a game."

Danny began grinning. "He did that? And you still watched games," he asked, brown eyes wide.

"Of course I did. I can't just give up watching football... Besides, Pen made me watch the game after new years... That's when she told me about you and Clay... It really broke my heart. I knew he missed you, but I didn't realize how attached he was to you," I said as I shook my head. "Alright, let's stop talking about him and actually get in there to see him."

Danny nodded. "Okay, let's do this!"

The two of us made our ways in, hand in hand, and met the lady at the front desk. "Hi, I'm here to pick up Clay Wells," I said with a small smile.

The lady smiled as she typed his name into the computer "Alright, we'll be bringing him right out," she said with a small smile. "He's been such a good pup. Got along well with all the others."

Danny's hand gripped mine tighter as she got up and walked into the back. Danny looked down at the pamphlet on the counter and picked it up. "This place has a dog pool," he asked, eyes wide.

I nodded. "Nothing but the best for Clay," I replied. Before I could say anything else, the door was being pulled open, and my little guy was running out of the hall.

He began to pull on the leash so tight that it didn't have any slack. The leash slipped right from the lady's hand, and Clay darted right at Danny. Danny let go of my hand, squatted down and opened his arms. "Hey buddy," he said, with a big smile on his face.

Clay jumped in his arms, both front paws on either shoulder, and began licking Danny's stubble. "Ugh! I missed you so much," Danny said as he wrapped his arms around Clay and held him close. "Have you been a good boy? Huh? Oh yeah!" Clay barked at him.

I began giggling and shook my head. Danny looked over to me and smiled as he picked Clay up and carried him over to me. Clay continued to lick at Danny's neck. "What about your mama? Huh? You can't forget about her!"

"Hi buddy," I said with a smile as I rubbed Clay's stomach. "You missed Danny, huh? You look pretty content in his arms right now!" Clay snuggled into Danny's arms, mouth wide open, and tongue hung out.

Danny chuckled and looked at me with a smile that stretched from ear to ear. "I missed you as much as you missed me, buddy," Danny said as he smiled down at Danny in his arms. "Do you maybe wanna go to the coffee shop with mama and I? It's been a long day for the two of us."

Clay only looked up at Danny with wide eyes as he continued to pant. "You two are so cute," I said. "Now let's go get our coffee... It's been a long day and I need caffeine."

Danny let Clay onto the ground, and let him lead us out of the place. "Thank you so much," I said as I turned back and waved at the lady.

She nodded and waved back. "Thank you! Have a great day," she called back.

When we got to the car, Clay crawled into the back and Danny slid into the passenger seat. Clay crawled up and perched himself on the center council. "Bud, you've really gotta stay in the back. It's not safe to be there," Danny said as he cupped Clay's chin in his hand.

Clay listened and moved back to lie down in the bed. Danny reached over and grabbed my hand. "So Jame, I was thinking, would you two maybe like to stay at mine tonight? I could use a snuggle session with the two of you."

I looked over at Danny and smiled. "Sure, but only if that's okay with Clay."

Clay let out a loud bark--letting us know it was okay.
