I procrastinated writing some final papers today and wrote two chapters instead... So here's a surprise update!!

"These cookies are so good!" Danny exclaimed as we slid into the car. He was already on his second one and we weren't even out of the shop for two minutes.

Clay and Sasha jumped up, trying to get at the big box in Danny's hands

Clay and Sasha jumped up, trying to get at the big box in Danny's hands. "No! You guys can't have these! They're too good for you to have them," Danny said with his mouth full of a cookie.

I rolled my eyes as I looked back at the dogs. "He doesn't mean that. Here ya go. Sue had me take some of these for you," I said as I pulled two of her homemade dog biscuits out of my coat pocket. "Both of you need to sit."

On cue, both dogs sat back into the back seat. "Here ya go bud," I said as I put one in front of Clay. Sasha let out a small whine and I put the other in front of her. "I could never forget about you, girl!"

The two of them chowed down on their treats and I looked back toward Danny who was digging through the box. "Danny! Is that a third already!?"

He paused, big brown eyes wide. "What if it is?" He asked, mouth still full. He had half a eaten cookie in his right hand as he secured the box with his left one.

"First of all, those are for tomorrow! And second of all, coach is going to be so mad at you if you get fat over the break," I warned as I stuck the keys into the ignition and fired the truck up.

"Babe!" Danny whined. "Why do you have to call me fat? The cookies are good! Worth it even!"

I rolled my eyes. "I didn't call you fat. I said you're going to get fat if you keep eating them," I replied. "Now please don't eat anymore. They're for the family for tomorrow."

Danny shot me his classic pout— big brown eyes and all. "You can have more tomorrow. For now, please just stop. And you don't wanna spoil my moms lunch. She's making one of my favorites— meatloaf."

"Ugh. I hate it when you're right." Danny grumbled.

Sasha let out a loud bark, followed by a bark from Clay. "Shush you two!" Danny said, moping about no more cookies. "I don't know if I like him having a sassy pup like her as an influence."

I giggled as I pulled out of my parking spot. Only Danny.

Danny yanked on the jacket I'd just passed along to him and pulled up the zipper. I smiled at him. "See! I knew Jack's coat would fit you!" I pulled my own jacket on and zipped it up.

Danny let out a huff as he moved to pull his gloves on next. "We aren't going to be out too long are we, Jame? It's cold out."

I looked up at Danny with a small smile on my face. "No, I'm just going to show you the back of the property where we can't go to by foot during the winter," I replied. "You need to stop being such a big baby."
