Everything Started from Here
Part 4

The sun was still beating down when we arrived at the coastal train station. Our shadows were almost invisible, hovering by our feet. There was nowhere to hide from the sun.

I thought I heard the roar of the waves, and soon enough a stretch of beach with beautiful golden sand unfolded before our eyes.

It was the beginning of summer.early vacationers were already perched under parasols.

The sea tends to make me emotional.
Taehyung and Hoseok, on the other hand, dashed ahead of me, yelling excitedly. Jimin and Seokjin ran along with them.

"Jungkook!" They called me over.

I waved at them, giving them a strained smile to let them know I was happy.

I was still clumsy at letting other people know how I felt. It was still hard for me to adapt to strange environments. I was like a small child, as someone had told me before. Intimidated and somewhat out of place among the people around me.

There wasn't really much to do on the beach, as much as we'd wanted to come here.

"Let's race," Hoseok suggested, dashing ahead of all of us already.

We all ran along with him, but soon the heat was just too much and we all lay on the sand under a beat up parasol Namjoon had managed to find for us.

The holes in the parasol let in streams of bright sunlight. We all moved around to try and avoid the heat, small speckles of sunlight catching in our eyes.

"Why don't we go check out this rock, guys?" Hoseok held up his phone and showed us the picture of the large rock looking over the beach.

"They say, if you yell out your dream towards the sea while standing on this rock, it'll come true."

Jimin took the phone from his hands as inspected the photo closely.

"Isn't it a bit far? It's at least 3.5 kilometers from here," Jimin finally said.

Yoongi rolled over.
"I'm not going. I don't have any wishes anyways. Even if I did, I wouldn't walk 3.5 kilometers in this heat..."

Taehyung sprang to his feet.
"I'll go."

And so that was how we began our walk across the beach under a torn parasol, the sand beneath our feet scorching hot and the air so thick with humidity it was a challenge to catch our breaths.

Hoseok attempted to make jokes, but he got no responses out of us.

"I give up," Taehyung declared, dropping down onto the sand.

Namjoon lifted Taehyung back on to his feet again and gave him a nudge forwards.

Our faces were bright red and dripping with sweat. We tried fanning ourselves with the hem of our shirts, but it only offered us more heat.

Even so, we kept walking.

As we walked, I remembered something.
A while ago I'd asked everyone what dreams they had for their futures.

"I want to become a good person."
That was Seokjin's dream.

"It's alright to not have dream," Yoongi had replied.

"I want to be happy."
That was Hoseok's wish.

I can't remember what Namjoon's dream was...
It wasn't anything special.
Basically no one had a dream to pursue.

And that brought me to my next question:
Why were we suffering through this heat, on this beach, to get to a rock that was supposedly meant to make our wishes come true?
