After Returning from the Sea
Part 14

I flipped through the pages of the sketchbook. There was a sketch of us together in that classroom/storage room. We were smiling. Another one has us in the tunnel, with the sea in our background. The last one I saw was of Jungkook lying on the road. It was dark and he was covered in blood. He'd sketched the night of his accident.

"Are you hurt?" Jungkook asked just as he came back in the room.

I'd had to get a cast around my ankle after hurting it.

"I'm in better shape than you," I replied. "But your health is unbeatable Jungkook!"

"I'm going for a thorough checkup next week. If everything is good then I can go home."

I decided we should throw him a party. The last time we'd had a party was at Namjoon's place. We fought over who got to wear the one party had and ended up crushing it. We smeared that expensive cake over each other's faces. Namjoon's complained about the mess, but it was fun.

We'd finally gotten together after high school. We laughed at everything. We were so excited to see each other again.

I wanted us to have a party like that again.

"Hey, that night..." Jungkook started as we got off the elevator and went to the front of the hospital to the exit.

He was looking at something outside. He didn't seem focused on one thing in particular. He was trying to remember something.

"Does Seokjin talk about that night?" He finally asked. "I mean, has he said anything. Like that he saw me, or...?"

"Seokjin saw you? Where?" I asked.

He didn't say anything else after that.

"You're a good person, right?" He finally asked before I left.

"Stop talking nonsense." I tapped him on his shoulder playfully and waved goodbye.

Was I a good person? Growing up I'd been told that I was sensitive. That I was able to leave an impression on people. I was bright and cheerful as a kid.

Did that mean I was a good person? I'd never really thought about it before.

I looked back and saw that Jungkook was still standing at the entrance, staring up at the sky.
