End of Summer, Beginning of Solitude
Part 1

My feet pounded against the ground as I ran down the hall, sliding as I took a corner.
Namjoon was standing in front of our classroom. (It wasn't "our classroom",  but we always liked to think it was since the seven of us were there so often).

I quietly crept up behind Namjoon to try and knock his cap off.

"Principal!"

I heard the urgent voice through the classroom's window, ajar, after I'd started to creep up behind Namjoon. It sounded like Seokjin. I stopped.

Seokjin is talking about the principal? In our classroom? About what?

I heard my name. Then Yoongi's name. Namjoon breathed heavily.

Seokjin must've known we were outside. He threw the door open. His phone was clutched in his hand, startled and flustered.

I hid behind a corner and watched them.

Seokjin opened his mouth to start explaining himself, but Namjoon interrupted him.

"It's okay. There must've been a good reason."

I couldn't believe it. Seokjin told the principal about what Yoongi and I were up to for the last few days. About how we ditched class, jumped the school wall and got into a fight.

And Namjoon said it was okay.

"What are you doing here?"

I turned around in surprise to find Hoseok and Jimin behind me. Hoseok looked even more surprised than I was. He put his arm around my shoulders and dragged me into the room with him.

Namjoon and Seokjin looked over at us. Namjoon's smile made it appear as if they hadn't just spoken about ratting out on me and Yoongi earlier. As if nothing strange had happened at all a few minutes ago.

At that moment, my thoughts pieced themselves together. Namjoon must have his reasons. He's much more knowledgeable, intelligent and mature than I am. And this is our room.

I approached the two, offering them the smile everyone called my "signature square smile".

I decided to not tell anyone what I'd heard Namjoon and Seokjin talk about that day.
