The Things With Wings
Part 5

It wasnt easy to connect the dots between all these strings connecting us together. It was quite an intricate entanglement. I figured out a few at the cost of a few others snapping. If I pulled one string just a bit too tightly, everything would collapse instantly. I had to connect the dots, very observantlyconnect on string to another. I had to get them to save one another without realising it.

I watched as Jungkook stopped in front of Yoongis workroom and looked up at the second floor. He didnt look too happy with himself.

Yoongi had gone through a difficult time over the past ten days. He had been drinking heavily. He tormented himself.

If anything, I had led Jungkook into Yoongis sadness. Yoongis suffering seemed to overwhelm Jungkook significantly. It made sense, thinking back to when Jungkook gave up on him last time. Back them, Yoongi threw himself into the flames. But cruelly, Yoongi didnt die. Jungkook never forgave himself for not being able to stop him. Jungkook had come back to change that. To help Yoongi.

About ten minutes had passed since Jungkook went into the workroom. The sound of something shattering brought me out of my thoughts. A few seconds later, Yoongi was making his way across the road, his lip split.

I looked bac up at the window. Jungkook was probably amongst the broken shards of glass, thinking that after all he did, he still wasnt able to save Yoongi. He probably thought Yoongi was finally a hopeless case.

I started the car after seeing Jungkook run after Yoongi. Yoongi should be heading to the motel down the block.

I should leave a clue for Jungkook to Yoongis whereabouts. I dropped a bloodstained tissue near the Motels gate. That was all I could do.

I sat in the car and watched Jungkook climb the stairs to the motel. I left the photo we took on the beach outside Yoongis workroom early this morning. Did he see the photo? I couldnt know for sure if Jungkook tried again and followed Yoongi because the photo had offered him a small seed of hope upon seeing it. Maybe he was motivated by something completely different.

I wasnt sure how Jungkook could save Yoongi. That decisive moment in life, that last moment for each of us, including Jungkook and Yoongi, cant be interfered with. Only if they share the same wound, can they share the same pain, understand each others fears, dreams and failures.

I looked back up at the motel window. I wondered what they were talking about.

I desperately wished that things would be better in the future.
