After Returning from the Sea
Part 10

My ankle didn't heal well. I'd had an minor accident a few days ago. It seemed pretty serious at the time though. Jimin crashed into his dance partner at the studio. They both fell hard. I ran to the hospital with her. It wasn't far, but the rain made it harder. And she was unconscious too.

I paced the hospital hallway while she got treated. Even though it was late, the emergency room was busy. Everyone was drinking vending machine coffee and busy on their phones.

My hair was wet from the rain. I shook my hair with one hand and sat down after a while. I dropped her bag by mistake. Coins, pens and handkerchiefs fell out. There was a plane ticket too. "Hoseok..."

I didn't wait for her to carry on.

"wait here. I'll go get an umbrella!" I quickly told her before running out into the rain to the nearest convenience store.

I didn't know if I was ready to hear her say she was leaving. I didn't know if I'd be able to congratulate her.

And Jimin was probably waiting in the studio for us to come back. He must've been so anxious.

When I got to the studio, he was indeed waiting there.

"Don't worry, she's okay," I told him.

When I left he kept his head bent. He didn't say a word.

The next morning I woke up to a swollen ankle. I'd tripped slightly that night while carrying her on my back. I didn't even fall. I just slipped a little.

I put a pain relief patch on and tried to walk more carefully. I thought it'd be alright. But the swelling started to get worse.

I had to stay on my feet all day while working at the burger joint. And I couldn't skip practice...
