Cogito ergo Cobi

Pagkatapos kong kumain ng breakfast ay umakyat ulit ako papuntang kwarto, at itong si Jacobi ay sunod-sunuran sa akin. Wala naman akong ibang gagawin dito kung hindi magbasa ng libro. Maraming libro sa kwartong pinagtutuluyan ko. At ayos lang naman ang mga iyon, it's all about science, philosophies, logics, scientists, stories from the great philosophers, pang matatalino pero nakakalibang kahit wala akong naiintindihan.

Wala sila Colt at Vennise lagi daw kasi silang umaalis, they are really adventurous. Sabi nila ayos lang naman daw akong iwanan dahil kasama ko si..ya.

Binuksan ko ang pintuan ng kwarto at nasa likod ko pa rin si Jacobi.

"What are you going to do now?"

"Read books..."

Kumuha ako ng isang libro sa bookshelf at umupo sa kama, umupo din siya sa tabi ko.

René Descartes.

Okay another philospher again.. Bumuntong hininga ako, nakakatamad magbasa.

"René Descartes,"

"Hmm?"

Tumingin ako kay Jacobi na nakatingin sa libro.

"Descartes, the french philosopher and the father of modern philosophy and the rationalist..."

"Hmmm... hindi ko kilala,"

Ngumuso siya sa aking sinabi, o bakit? familiar pero hindi ko kilala. He smiled a bit bago muling nagsalita.

"Descartes was lying in bed when he noticed a fly buzzing around his room. He realized that he could describe the fly's position in the room's three dimensional space using just three numbers represented by the variables X, Y and Z. This is the cartesian coordinate system, and it's still use more than three centuries after his death. So X, Y and Z cover full 360 degree..."

Hehe. Tumawa yung utak ko. Hehe.

"Pero ang pinaka paborito ko sa kanya... Cogito Ergo sum. I think therefore I am. That's his famous dictum, he proved that you can know yourself only through the fact that you think."

"His method was the methodic doubt. He started doubting everything, the whole world is doubtful as to wether it is real or just his own fancy, applying his logic  to his doubt... he reached the conclusions that even if everything dubitable including himself in terms of being real or unreal, the fact that there is a doubt there is a doubter. Since doubt is purely a mental phenomenon you are doubter. His own doubting proves to him that atleast he exists... and there was no other way of proving that he existed thus cogito ergo sum... I doubt therefore I am... I think therefore I am."

Tinikom ko ang aking bibig at tinignan lamang siya. He chuckled at me.

"You didn't get it don't you?"

Actually half of it. Well yeah.. I didn't... get it.

"Thinking happens and the thought of me thinks it's me thinking."

Naguluhan ang utak ko sa sinasabi niya.

"Jacobi the dictum, I think therefore I am. Naiintindihan ko na yun. Kung anong iniisip ko ako yun gan'on ba?"

"Hmm..." nag-isip pa siya ng malalim.

I think therefore I am. I think therefore I am. Patay na si descartes diba?

"I think therefore, I am! That's obvious Cobi! You don't need to expand it!"

"Well yeah, I think about you therefore I am."
