Heart to heart

"You guys took your time." Aaliyah says as we walk into the living room hand in hand.

"I gave Rose a little tour." He shrugs his shoulders. The only two spots that are free to sit down on are one next to his sister and in a big chair.

"Where do you?."-

"Go sit down with your sister." I squeeze his hand and let go of it as I walk over to the chair and sits down. I put the paper bag with Shawn's present in it next to the chair and wait for what is going to happen next.

"Finally. Presents." Aaliyah says enthusiastic as Shawn throws his arms casually over his sister's shoulder. "I got you a pair of socks." Shawn says which earns him a glare from his sister.

"You better not. Mom and dad already gave me socks this morning. I was waiting for your presents."

"What else did you get?." Shawn's dad says as he hands a cup of coffee at his wife and sits down next to her.

"And my drivers license." She mumbles softly.

"O God. Good that I am gone for the biggest part next year. By the time I am back you will at least know how to drive and not to kill anyone." I love their relationship. You can see how much they love each other.

"Aaliyah start unpacking your gift before this is going to turn into a war." Karen says quickly. Knowing her kids way too well. "Shawn, I have your presents in the kitchen." He nods, not really paying attention to what his mother is saying as he is too busy annoying Aaliyah.
"Sorry Rose, If I knew sooner that you were coming, I would have bought you a present as well."

"O no. I don't want anything. It's already a gift that I can spend Christmas with you guys."

"We are happy to have you." I give her a close mouthed smile and focus my attention back to Aaliyah, who is already tearing her presents open.

"Just the one I wanted." She says enthusiastic as I see the box of the new IPhone in her hands.

"I know. You only send 60 text messages to remind me." He kiss her on her cheek as he hands his parents their presents.

"You didn't had to buy me something sweetheart. Having you home is the best gift you can give me." His mom reaches forward and loving caress his cheek.

"I love you."

"I love you more." I have never envy someone in my life but seeing the relationship Shawn and his mother has, making me wish I had that relationship with my mother as well. I would do anything to have what they have with my mother but I guess that it will never happen for us anymore but that doesn't take away the fact that I can watch and just enjoy what they have. It's a beautiful thing to watch.

"Babe?." I look up and see Shawn, instead of sitting on the spot he was sitting 5 minutes ago, standing in front of me with a small wrapped present in his hand.

"This is for you." He says with a blush on his cheek.

"Dude, you are blushing." Aaliyah points out, which makes his cheeks go even redder.

"Aaliyah, stop teasing your brother." Karen says as she stares at her son with a knowing little smirk on her face.

Thank God that it's just a small little present otherwise the present I have for him would be so anticlimax.

Thanks." I reach beside the chair and hand him the bag. "This is for you."

"You shouldn't have bought me anything." He says as he takes the bag and sits down on his spot on the couch.
