Seokjin POV

"Father, I'm going to the village." I say. "I need...flowers."

"Can't one of the guards get them for you?" Father asks. "You're the future king, Seokjin. You need security."

"I'll be fine. I won't be long, I promise." I say.

"Hurry back. Tonight is the night you find your future queen." He says.

I leave the castle, and begin my short journey to the village. Instead of stopping by the flower cart, I walk into the forest.

"I missed you." Someone latches onto me. I smile at my boyfriend of 6 months.

"I missed you too, Joon." I chuckle.

"I heard the news." He smiles sadly. "About the ball, tonight."

"Don't cry. Please, Namjoon." I say. His bottom lip quivers.

"Y-You're gonna find someone b-better than me. A-And that's a good th-thing. I'm just a s-stupid, poor farmer's son." He cries.

"Darling, I will not find anyone better than you. I promise. You're the only person that owns the key to my heart." I say. "We'll work things out. I'd even give my crown up to be with you."

"N-No." He sniffles. "Find someone that your parents will accept. And please, Seokjin. Be happy."

"W-What are you saying?" I ask.

"I'm going t-to end this." He chokes back a sob. "So you can be h-happy."

"Namjoon, please." A tear falls down my face.

"I gotta go." He grabs the back of my neck, and pulls me into a kiss. "I love you. Don't forget that."

"Please, don't leave." I sniffle.

"Be happy without me. Find someone richer than I am. Someone that you'll enjoy being with. Goodbye, your majesty."

He rushes down the path, back to the village.

"Namjoon." I fall to my knees, and cry into my hands.

10 minutes later, I arrive in the castle looking disheveled and heartbroken.

"Seokjin! Son, what happened to you?!" Father exclaims.

"I don't want to have the stupid ball tonight!" I shout. The maids, and guards look over at me in shock. I've never shouted at my parents before.

"You must." Mother says.

"I d-don't want to marry a p-princess. I can't do it!" I sob.

"Well, you're going to!" Mother shouts. "If you don't choose, I'll find one for you!"

I rush up to my bedroom and lock the door before walking into the bathroom. Everything going on around me is a blur. I grab my dagger from the pocket of my robes, and bring the blade across my arm.

I watch as my blood pours out of the wounds, and falls onto the white tile. "I...need him."

The last thing I hear before blacking out, is the scream of my maid when she opens the bathroom door.

*2 Weeks Later*

"Seokjin! Thank goodness, you're okay!" Father exclaims, his eyes glassy. I look around the doctor's chamber, tears filling my eyes.

"Why am I still here?!" I sob. "I should be dead! Why didn't you let me die?!"

"If you'd killed yourself, I would've followed right after." I snap my head toward the door. Namjoon stands there, his eyes red and puffy. "You're such an imbecile! What is wrong with you?!"

"Namjoon." I whisper. Father looks between us.

"You two know each other?" He asks. I ignore him, and reach out to Namjoon. He walks over to me, and connects our lips.

"What is going on?!" Father huffs.

"He cut his wrists because of me. I'd found out about the ball, and realized that I wasn't good enough for the prince. So I'd ended things between us." Namjoon explains. "I'm s-sorry, your majesty. P-Prince Seokjin and I have been together for 6 months in secret."

"Do you love him, Seokjin?" Father asks.

"I do. I love him a lot, Father. Please, don't make him leave me." I sniffle. "Or I might end up actually killing myself."

"You can remain together. Namjoon will become Queen, and his family will move into the castle. Anything to make my son happy." Father says.

"No! I will not allow this!"
Mother shouts.

"Sura, if you have a problem with it, you are allowed to leave, and never contact us again. You will no longer be queen." Father says. Mother stomps off, Father following after her.

"Namjoon, love don't cry." I say.

"I-It's all my fault!" He cries. "I'm so sorry, hyung!"

"Don't be sorry, darling." I say. "I'm okay. I have you by my side."

*5 Years Later*

"Papa, What awe those lines on your wrists?" My 4 year old son, Jinhwan asks. I crouch down in front of him.

"When I was a prince like you, I fell in love with a farmer's son." I say. "A few months into our secret relationship, the farmer's son found out about a ball, where I would find a princess to marry. He thought he wasn't good enough for me, so he ended our relationship. I was really sad, and begged your grandma and grandpa to stop the ball. But your grandma wouldn't let me. So I ran up to my room, his in the bathroom, and cut my wrists with a dagger."

"Wh-Who was da farmer's son?" Jinhwan asks.

"The farmer's son was your dad." I smile. "Now you listen to me. If you're ever feeling sad, you come to me or your dad. Okay? Don't cut yourself like I did. Promise me?"

"I-I pwomise Papa!" He links our fingers.

"Your Mother is driving me crazy." Namjoon stomps into the room. "Jinhwan, why don't you go play with Hanbin."

"Yes, dada!" Jinhwan skips away.

"Don't stress too much, love." I gently rub his stomach. "What happened?"

"She still wants me to get rid of the baby. Hell, she still wants to get rid of me." He pouts.

"I'll have a talk with her." I say. "You need to rest. You're 8 months pregnant, you shouldn't be stressing yourself out."

"I have to help you with your work. I am the queen, after all." He says.

"Well, you're going to be resting until you give birth. No buts about it. I want my queen, and baby healthy. Jinhwan told me he'd protect you, and make sure you weren't moving around too much." I say.

"I guess." He sighs. "I love you~!"

"And I love you as well."
