Blissfully Unaware

"You alright?" Arthur nudged Lorna.

She smiled."Yeah, I just miss Lily."

"I do too. But, Abigail'll take good care of her while we're away." He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her snug against his side.

"Stop, we're not even there yet." She teased.

He smirked."Hope I can wait that long."

Lorna bit her lip and looked down, taking note of the strain in his pants. She felt something stir inside of her and shifted a little, her hand dipping down to cover the crotch of his pants. Arthur's breath hitched and he clenched the reins until his knuckles turned white.

"Best not do that now Darlin, bound to run off the road."

She leaned up and pressed a kiss to the underside of his ear."If you say so."

She scooted back to her spot, smirking to herself. She loved to tease him, but never really had the opportunity to. She was so hopelessly in love with him, that even the thought of not giving into him made her anxious. But now that they were married and their love was true, she didn't feel so bad about it.

Deciding that the journey was a bit boring, she reached into her bag and pulled out a book. The Scarlet Letter. It was quite scandalous, but she enjoyed it very much. She had a lot of time to read it of course, since she and Arthur weren't coupling. She was nearly finished and knew she had better finish it soon, or she might never get to the end. 

She was pretty sure that this evening would be magical or as magical as she remembered it to be. It'd been a while - more than a while. She wasn't sure how Arthur managed all this time, but he proved to be as celibate as she.

"Still ain't finished with that thing yet?"

Lorna smiled as she turned the page."I'm about thirty pages away from the end, now hush."

He raised a brow."You're really demandin' nowadays....kinda like it."

"I'm a wife and mother now, it's the cardinal rule to be bossy. Now hush."

Arthur chuckled to himself as he scanned the scenery. It changed from hot desert like, to a damp lush green. The weather changed also. It wasn't nearly as hot and sticky as it was in Rhodes and Arthur half wondered why they didn't just come up this way. He enjoyed it up here, mostly because there wasn't anyone around. He remembered so many times coming up this way just to camp. He'd lay under the stars and think about Isaac and Eliza and Mary, the three people his heart longed for most.

He hadn't been back up this way in a while, not since before Lily was born. He was happy that this time he was coming back with someone. His wife. He still got a kick out of calling her that. He never thought in a million years he was the marrying type, hell, Mary made that perfectly clear to him many years ago. Yet, here he was...married.

Up ahead there was a fork in the road, a wooden sign stood tall and proud pointing in three different directions. Arthur went left, remembering that's where he needed to go. Going right would take him into Emerald Ranch. Lorna looked up from her book and looked around, before diving head first back into the many pages still left.

"You gonna put that book down when we get there?"

She glanced up."Maybe."

"Maybe? Hmm, well seems to me you're playin' some kinda game I ain't too familiar with. Now what'chu want from me, girl?"

She snorted."You know what I want, Arthur."

"Don't think you told me."

She draped the blue string back in the center of the page, closed the book and sat it next to her on the bench. She leaned over and whispered into his ear. He felt an instant twitch in his pants and his heart quickened. He turned to face her and she was biting her bottom lip, which she knew drove him insane. He swallowed thickly and turned back around, praying like hell that their destination was coming up quickly.
