"I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! It's rider was named Death."
...

After the events of the day before, Arthur was exhausted when he woke. He didn't feel much like doing anything but sleeping. However, he still wanted to go North for a while, to clear his head and maybe breathe some fresh clean air.

New Hanover had been calling his name and he wished to take Lorna and the baby, but, it'd be too rough for them to travel. So he packed a small bag, containing a second pair of pants, a shirt, socks and riding gloves. He opened the trunk at the foot of the bed and pulled out his rust brown coat with fringe. It was his heaviest jacket aside from his woolen blue coat and that was far too warm for New Hanover.

Before he walked downstairs, he stopped in to say goodbye to Abigail and Jack. He was playing with some marbles out on the balcony, while Abigail knitted something on the bed. She looked up when Arthur entered the room.

"Leavin' already?"

He nodded."Yeah. Uh, could you do me a favor while I'm gone?"

"Sure Arthur, what is it?"

"Keep an eye on Lorna for me. I won't be gone but a day or two, just...need to clear my head. But I'm worried 'bout leavin' her here with everything that happened."

"You ain't gotta worry, she's in good hands. Me and Jack will keep her company, you know that."

He looked out at Jack on the balcony and nodded."Thank you, Abigail, it means a lot to me."

She snorted."Told you not to worry about it, now go on your trip. Bring us back somethin' good to eat."

"I'll try." He chuckled.

He descended the stairs, bag in hand and coat draped over his arm. Charles was down in the parlor, saying his goodbyes to Mary-Beth. They'd been getting closer lately, and it was becoming evident that there was something between them.

Lorna was sitting on the worn sofa with Karen, Lily in her lap, chewing on her fingers. He dropped the bag beside them and knelt down in front of Lorna; she looked sad.

Lily reached for him and he gladly accepted, pulling her into his arms and snuggling her close.

"You be good for momma, alright?"

She smiled, drool seeping out from the corners of her mouth. Arthur chuckled and kissed her forehead, as Lorna reached out and rested her hand on his shoulder.

"I'll miss you."

He brought her hand up to his mouth."I won't be long, just a day or two."

"It won't be the same here without you."

He chuckled."You talk like I'm dyin' or something."

She glanced up."Be safe."

"I will." He stood and pulled Lorna up from the sofa."You be safe too."

"I have my gun." She patted her hip."I'm a gunslinger now."

He smirked."A damn fine gunslinger."

She leaned up and pressed her lips to his, lingering for a moment before pulling away. He gave Lily another kiss then reluctantly handed her back. He grabbed his bag off the floor and slung his jacket back over his arm.

Charles kissed Mary-Beth and turned to Arthur, a few arrows with white feathers in his hand. He had his blue sling over his shoulder, containing just a few things. Arthur had forgotten he always travelled light.

"Ready?"

Charles nodded."I am."

"You two be careful." Mary-Beth suggested."We lost too much to lose you all too."
