"Money is a needful and precious thing,—and, when well used, a noble thing,—but I never want you to think it is the first or only prize to strive for. I’d rather see you poor men’s wives, if you were happy, beloved, contented, than queens on thrones, without self- respect and peace."- Marmee, Little Women.

Day 2- The gift of giving.

"Where are you taking me?" I ask, taking a seat in the carriage. Instead of sitting opposite, Xavier sits beside me and his close proximity makes me a little nervous, I can smell his herbal scent and feel his warmth radiating out of his broad body. He takes my hand in his, as I look down to see his large hand swallow mine whole.

"Remember when I said it was a surprise?" He says teasingly.

I look to Xavier with narrow eyes, guessing where this is going.

"It's still a surprise." I huff, answering him.
He moves his lips to my ear, "You know you're rather sexy when annoyed, you do this thing where you bite your lip and pout all at the same time."

I shiver at his close contact and his lips start playing with my ear, "Even me doing this--has an effect on you." He says seductively, making me close my eyes from his warm breath.
I nod slowly as my breathing increases. His hand pulls away from mine as he lightly touches my thigh with his fingertips, round and round he draws circles on the material of my dress making my body desire his touch between my thighs.

"I..I th..thought, you wer..were, being aaa gentleman." I stammer as my body heats up.

Xavier chuckles, "I am being a gentleman. Because if I wasn't, I would have moved my hand under your dress and felt how wet you are by now."

Oh god, please do.

On their own accord, my legs start to part, hoping he will indeed touch me there.

But he chuckles again, "Always so responsive, but as much as I would like to feel your hot little cunt coming on my fingers, I'm afraid I can't as we have arrived." He nods to the window and I can feel the horses slowing down, we can't have been travelling for more than ten minutes at most.

Xavier moves his hand off my thigh and I take a deep breath trying to calm my reserve. His filthy words and his teasing touch has made me feel flustered. I can feel my face blushing, and my body feels too warm.

Xavier takes my hand and helps me step out of the carriage, This gentlemanly gesture makes me beam up to Xavier. I'm not used to being made to feel this way like he's letting me shine.
He speaks to Percy, to collect something from the back as I look around to where Xavier has taken me to. I see grey stone buildings with 'Bakery' and 'Hairdressers' written above on their signs. But in front of us is the biggest building of all and it reads:

Laywoods Orphanage

"You have an Orphanage?" I ask bewildered.

The Laywoods own an Orphanage?

I feel like I've just fallen into the pages of a Charles Dickens novel, and I expect to see little Oliver Twist peering out of the window.

"Yes, we do." He simply states while opening the blue painted door. It seems so strange for an Orphanage to be squashed in between other buildings on a busy high street. I had always pictured them being in some remote part of the countryside, with nothing around for miles.

Xavier takes my hand and ushers me inside to a small room lined with chairs, sort of like the waiting room at the clinic. But the room is scarcely bigger as a wooden door stands proudly at the end, letting us know we cannot go any further. Percy has followed us in with the large wicker box, tied up at the front with some rope. I can see he's struggling with the weight and slowly places the box to his feet, shaking his hands to relieve the ache it caused him.
