A lot of people come to the Kamigamo shrine to attend the hollyhock festival, sea of people walk into the shrine area. Among them, there is also a lot of tourist from oversea.
Kamigamo shrine enshrines one of the most powerful deities in Shinto, Wakeikazuchi, the god that controls thunder. Wakeikazuchi has been compared with Susanoo a lot before, maybe because both of them can control the cloud of thunder and lightning.
It's built by Kamo clan, that according to the myth also the descendant of three-legged crow. They are also the clan who help the first emperor Jinmu, the first emperor of Japan establishing a country.
Right now their existence is being questioned whether the real Kamo clan family still exists or not.
Behind the shrine, there is a big field with a lot of targets in the middle. Fence made from rope surrounds the field so the spectators won't get too close to the horse track.

The festival just begin, it's started by a parade and dancing from the inner shrine to the outer shrine. The tourist stands on the side of the road to watch the show.
