I got too my feet and stumbled over, almost falling into her arms as I wrapped mine tightly around her.
"You shouldn't be standing tho you were foolish enough to be channeling lightning magic in a storm."
"That doesn't matter! Granny you went missing when I was 12! No one knew where you were, not even Mystery could find you! We thought you died!"
"I see your useless feud with her hasn't been resolved."
"That's not the question and how do you know of that?"
I let her go and stepped back, the ages turned her blue hair a pale light blueish-grey and she was slightly hunched over, her mage robes changed into more earthy colored ones, black shoes with brown pants and a green top, looking nothing like the amazing woman I know and instead looking like any other peasant in the land of Solor.
"You know what I did to survive being struck down by the darkness don't you child?" I let her push me back to sit down as the stone wall rose again behind her.
"You did some weird ass magic to ground your body in a state of living but also death by using all your magic to do so."
"Right, after that when the castle life went back to what it was, I knew I needed to leave, I left to go on a journey." She sighed. "To relearn my purpose, further my understanding, magic had been my life, I was raised, like all the other mages have been throughout history, to be a court mage."
"Did....Did you find what you were looking for?" I sat with my legs crossed.
"I sure have child." With a deep inspiration she lifted her arms and a stool of stone rose from the ground. "Might not be as it was, filling so foreign but molding the elements to your will is the same in elemental and wild magic, wild magic if just more volatile and less cooperative."
"You transferred your knowledge from one sort of magic to the next." I said in awe at small stool she sat on.
"I still have much to learn as this type of magic differs greatly from the one I grew up with."
"But why.... Why didn't you come back? We all miss you so much."
"I have several reasons child. For one, I found my home here, in the calm and serene forest, where I can practice and live how I see fit, you don?t need me anymore, I am old and it is time that the young take over the world and guide the even younger on, my job is complete."
"You could have come back."
"Home isn't a place but where the heart is and my heart is here."
"Right." I sighed, in that case I don't know where it is. "But how did you know of our feud as you called it."
"That's another reason I stayed."
"Tell me."
"This time it is actually a place."
"Then show me, I can stand, please granny I want to know."
"You are a much more enthusiastic learner then your mother was." I tsk-ed, looking away.
"Mystery doesn't want to teach me anything, I am not worth her time."
"Child, you know that's not true."
"Then you are blind! Like everyone else!" I yelled, the fire sparking softly, she stared at it for a moment before looking back at me.
"So be it, I think that there is no question, you need to see this before your relationship is too damaged to be mended." She waved her arms and the ground near her slowly dipped and dropped down into a staircase.
"There is nothing left to be mended." I coldly said as I stood and followed after her when she stood.
It was a spiraling staircase with sea-foam green glowing plants growing from the walls, lighting the way.
"Woah..." I said in awe as the small cave were there was a weeping willow growing, the leaves glowing with the same color, the roots cupping a small pond of light blue glowing water pulsing to a steady beat, waves moving across its surface without any rhyme or reason and so clear but I could only see fog inside the water.
"Amazing isn't it?" I heard her ask. "This is a rare artifact remaining from the creation of our world, you know the story of the three gods don't you? How they were born from one being's inner conflict, whose cries created the wind, whose tears created water, whose anger created fire and whose words made earth.... It was long implied some of these elements still exist in their purest form somewhere... Lin my dear, right now you are looking at the tears of an old god, the first waters of our world, the gates to a realm and a powerful mirror to the world."
"It is amazing." I said with wide eyes. "And you use this to see us?"
"Not only see but hear, water has always been an element of purity and calm and like wild magic, it exists everywhere in our world, simply meditating on the edge of the pond lets me be where I want in a spiritual form and observe so I have never truly left you."
"Why show me this? Two people knowing of the existence of this place is already a great flaw." I said even if I had insisted previously, it would have made more sense to deny me knowledge then reveal this to me.
"You should try to meditate, don't fight me on this child, it will yield more answers then questions."
---------------------------------------------------
She left me alone and I looked down as pond before sitting cross legged at the edge, staring into it.
I was never the spiritual type which was another flaw Mystery found in me, it just wasn't my cup of tea, I was more grounded in reality.
"But if I want to ever have a chance at making her proud...." I whispered with a sad look before sighing and closing my eyes, setting my fists against each other, just like they taught you.
---------------------------------------------------
I heard a splash and opened my eyes to see the water ripple and a red glow-y fin rising and dipping under the surface.
"Woah...." I watched the long necked serpent with thrills and whiskers rise its head from the water, the side of its jaws having a deep purple fur, two straight horns on its head.
I reached out towards the creature, leaning forwards.
Right before I touched it, the hand holding me up slipped and I tumbled into the pond.
