Getting down from the mountain was simple, it was a long but constant slope down towards the plains and no snow clouds threatened to bury us.

We could see a few spaced out villages, this up north few lived because even the summer's 'heat' snow can still faintly blanket the ground, only my mather's birth village was a town that up north with no real trouble that I heard off, all the rest struggling a bit with living.

With some searching and questioning of the people we narrowed down the search to a lone temple sitting in the middle of a lake even more north from here.

-----------------------------------------

"I thought it was a small temple Liny." Kia said in awe like the rest of us, this lake was huge... Huuuuuge, with a several stories tall and large temple standing on supports twice the length of my body.

"No one said it would be small Kia." I said, still carrying her in my arms, she can't avoid slipping because of training or magic like we can.

I needed to hoist Kia up on the temples steps and then pull myself up, the first step starting right at where I could reach while jumping up but the rest were not gigantic as this was. It was as if half of it was made huge and the other half was regular size.

"Welcome travelers, we awaited you." Two nearly identical men said, standing at the top of the staircase.

They were both bold with strong facial features, beard combed into points, yellow robes draped around the left shoulder and tied around their waist, a red scarf-life cloth wrapped around their neck and down their right arm and tied around their wrist, a belt with a centerpiece made of a round golden plate with three circles carved into it which each having one point to it aiming in the middle where there was a simple dot.

"How did you know we were coming tho?" Kia innocently asked.

"They are monks Kia, they are not a mage like me but might as well be as spiritually inclined as I am ain't I right?" I said, waving her over to me.

"You are right young mage." The left one spoke.

"As monks our duty is to look after the temples of the spirits and gods and pray." The right one continued.

"Wow, that's so cool Liny!"

"It is Kia, technically monks are our counterpoints we use spirituality to aid the physical realm while they focus on the spiritual part mostly."

"Wow really?!"

"You still have much to learn." I told her with a smile. "I assume you know why we came, with this shift in the world there is no way you remained ignorant to it all."

"You speak true and so we ask you to follow, Toffur will lead you companions to the resting chambers while I'll show you the way." The left one said.

"Look after Kia, no stupid shit." I said, walking up to the monk.

"Same goes to you." Fin called after me.

"Language!" yelled Kela making me laugh as I walked away from them.

-----------------------------------------

"So I know his name, Toffur, but what is yours?" I asked the monk, following him down thin but tall halls, the walls depicting many scenes painted in golden, yellow and red hues mostly with white or black leaving stark contrast in the pieces of art.

"Trafor young mage."

"I'm Lin."

"Welcome to our temple Lin."

"You have other temples?"

"Yes, there is four in total, northern, western, eastern and southern temple of the scale of this one but many other smaller ones wherever humanity extended too." I am sure where Belladonna lived would be worth of a temple with that sacred pool of tear.

"But this is the only one this big in Solor right?"

"You are right, this is the northern temple, the only one this far up north."

"It is a surprise that it is this warm inside, I did wonder how few robes could help with the cold."

"A bit of faith can also help."

"Right..."

"Ah yes, I've heard stories of the new mages lacking in spirituality, do not worry you've come to the right place to reconnect with yourself."

"What exactly does that mean?"

"I can tell you changed not long ago, regained something you lost but haven't made it yours yet."

"You couldn't be more right." I watched fire flicker across my hand, it was by far not what it was in the past. "So, this will help?"

"You came to put together pieces of a puzzle you didn't know was in pieces and don't know what the full image will be, once all pieces are connected you shall be whole again."

"Lovely."

"Here we are." I looked up at the double doors which were amusingly oversize like most of this place. "I'll leave you to it, I'll be here to fetch you if needs it to be."

"Thanks."

I grabbed the golden handles of the door and hesitated, this would change so many things, but what would change? What new things would come from it? What old things would be obsolete?

I took a deep breath and pushed the door wide open, letting light spill into the dark room which revealed a room in the shape of an upright tube, reaching far up in the sky.

Standing there, the doors slowly closed behind me, making darkness envelope the room again before the many drawings covering the tall walls started to emit a gentle yellow glow where yellow pain was used.

The entirety of the wall was glowing softly, revealing parts of drawings of spirits, each different from the others, drawn with such expertise even here they looked like ethereal beings filled with grace.

The glow was soft but so much was drawn with this glowing paint that I could see around the room as if it was just beginning to turn dusk.

A man in the exact same outfit sat in the middle of the room where the glowing lines converged too, his back to me.

"I knew one day you would come back."

The voice shook all the fibbers of my beings, a voice of m that carried with it years of wisdom and aged by gruffness.

"Welcome home." He said as he turned to face me.
