"Oh for fuck's sake!"
"Language!"
"I can say what I want Kela!"
"And I can deal with your smashed ankle how I want too!"
I crossed my arms and huffed, looking away as Kia giggled, sitting in my lap.
"It wasn't on purpose you know that I smashed my foot on the devine, it was that and saving people or doing nothing and await the end of the world by means of suffering devine blasts."
"You have air magic!" Kela threw her arms up, the pain instantly coming back when her magic stopped acting on my leg.
"I didn't have time to think gods."
"You are the only person willing to throw themselves in a devine's mouth so for all we know you'd have been able to think this up."
"Not you to Fin!" I sighed.
"What? You are the one wanting to be head mage once you must think."
"But even Mystery doesn't think."
"Doesn't count."
"It does th--ouch!! KELA!!"
"Oops."
------------------------------------------------
"So?"
"So what?" Kela asked.
"How long will this take?" I asked, Kia having gotten bored and the twins went off to entertain and play with her.
"You know how you had reduced your arm in gravel when we first met?"
"Yeah?"
"Along that long as the ankle is a really finicky area and if I mess anything up you could have a limb until the end of your days."
"That would be a long time as I am kind of half spirit."
"....Whaaaaat?"
"Oh yeah I forgot to tell you about that."
"No shit."
"Language."
"Lin, not the time."
"I also learned my real name was supposed to be Linniel and Lin was a nickname."
"Eh what?!"
"I should tell you the whole thing huh?"
I resumed the story fast but kept in all the important details for her to understand.
"You realize your life expectancy is long then mine? And I am an elf."
"Wow really?"
"Spirits are kind of endless beings but since you are half human, you are bound to die in the future."
"I would outlive my parents and siblings."
"Most likely, as dragons and elves live around the same time and only Mystery and Kia have dragon blood in them with the queen having her life expectancy tied to Mystery's by spell so Siera will die the first unless she goes through with the spell to make her live as long as her lover if they are long lived."
"This is a morbid thought." I sighed. "But lets worry about that later..."
"Sure."
"So like, why've you come along really?"
"Why've?"
"'why have' contracted to make 'why've' but that doesn't matter."
"It kind of does, your speech pattern is already more peasant like but why I did come really?"
"Well you said to guard me but is that really the case, I don't feel like it."
"Who knows?"
"What answer is that?"
"You are quite oblivious Lin... Or Linniel from now on?"
"Nah we stick to Lin between family and friends amma just use Linniel with strangers so it feels less personal and how am I oblivious?"
"Lin." She brought a hand up to her face. "We literally went on a date."
"Yeah?"
"Do I need to spell it out?!"
"Kela look I spent more time with the mages and my mage mather then my royal mother and siblings which is a reason why they always so happy to see me."
"Right.... Mystery is a boot when it comes to emotions she needed things to be spelled out to her.... Not a surprise you struggle with communication when it comes to emotions."
"I am not an idiot."
"I never said that, just an air head."
"Kela!"
"Oh for the gods sanctity's sake..." She rubbed her face. "Lin... Even Kia picked up on it, I enjoy spending time with you and wish to spend most of it with you."
You could hear a needle drop.
"Oh."
"Yeah... Oh."
"Fuck me!" I covered my face with my arms and fell back on my back as I felt my face red hot under my hands.
"Lets not be hasty." I grabbed a book and threw it at her which only earned me a laugh as I covered my face with a pillow.
"I decided!" I declared loudly. "I am indeed an idiot."
"Just oblivious, not an idiot."
"Same difference."
"Not really."
"Same difference for me."
"Sure."
I sighed and threw the pillow at her while sitting up again.
"Your cheeks are still red, it is adorable."
"I will throw you of this room and heal alone."
"I'd like to see you go through with it." She smiled at me, looking after from my leg for the first time since we started chatting, god I always loved those eyes of hers. "I dare you."
"Fuck you."
"Language."
"And fuck language!"
I smiled softly as she chuckled while shaking her head, I could get used to this.
