"No, I can't have missed it."

"Well you did, I was the first to see."

"Don't stick your tongue out Siera it isn't well mannered."

"What do you know about manners?"

"Don't start young lady." I sighed.

The road back was a bit longer then when we first left because despite what Kela could do for my ankle it still needed to do a bit of healing alone so I couldn't push it which lead me to lose a bet that I would be the first to meet my youngest sibling like tradition would want it while Siera was sure I'd end up being unable to be present, I swear that child sees the future or something.

"At least she's cute?"

"He and yes."

"He?" That was unexpected as I had two mothers with a spell that let the lack of men still give them a child, I assumed there couldn't be a male child with only female options to inherit.

"Yeah he."

"Well...Wait here."

I walked down the hall and knocked on the door.

"I'm back mother, heard I missed something big?"

"Arianwyn forgot Siera's due date and she was in the castle, you at least had an excuse for it." I chuckled.

"Which aunt did this?" I asked as she laid in bed with a blanket and tied down with rope.

"Amalia and my own sister Meridith, they insist that I must remain in bed for at least a week to be sure I was back perfect as they said."

"And you didn't want to so they bound you to bed huh?"

"Belladonna had to do that with Arianwyn when she was sick as she refused to stay in her bed, they stole her techniques, would you free me?"

"I think you can use some time off reign, we can work out what is needed don't worry." She sighed but smiled. "So I heard we had a brother?"

"A surprise right? In the crib, sleeping, so ssh."

"Right right." I walked over and leaned over.

He was bound in a blue fuzzy cloth for a blanket, the thin hair already present on his head being silvery like I expected it too be but we never know, Siera was blond when was born and now is hazel with green so yeah but I am ready to bet it will have silver hints even if it does end up changing.

"He is cute." I gently poked the puffy cheeks he had, rubbing them with my fingers.

"And calm." Mother said in relief.

"Kia was a whiny baby." I agreed, there were nights I would hear it from the mage's quarters how she cried.

"And Arianwyn had no idea how to deal with her which is why I agreed to have him, don't tell her but she is not cut out to take care of a baby."

"My mouth is shut... Name?"

"I haven't chosen one, I can't without her."

"I am sure mather wouldn't hold it against you if you chose a name."

"No it's not that she would be mad, it just doesn't feel right."

"I will call him little ass kicker."

"Yeah no actually." I laughed softly knowing that would be her answer.

"I was just joking."

"Why don't you choose a name?"

"Me?!"

"What about this sounds like a shock to you?" I shrugged.

"Oh nothing important just that he is the only male heir and the one eligible to both human and dragon throne?" I said.

"Just choose something." She smiled. "And don't name him like..... Like Shovel, calling a cat a name like Soil is acceptable but not a baby."

"Gods I wouldn't do that."

I hmm-ed as I felt something on my hand and looked down smiling.

He had vertical slit pupils like dragons and my mather had but his eyes were weirdly a golden yellow instead of red like mather or brown like mother had before her purple eyes came in, even purple would have been more plausible than yellow.

"Look who's awake." I cooed as I grabbed him and lifted him high.

"Careful."

"I always am, you can rest I'll keep an eye on him."

"Lin."

"I will be careful, I'll think of a name along the way."

--------------------------------------------------

"Lin, you stole a bab."

"First of all, technically I didn't steal him, he's my baby brother and I was allowed."

"Hinted that you could not out right said you could bring him out."

"You can't say no to cuteness Kela."

"I said no to you before."

"Rude." I had on hand on my hip as I glared and held him in my other arm.

"But he is cute." I smiled as she really gently flicked his nose making him sneeze. "A name yet?"

"He has one."

"Which is?"

"Well I thought of Owen, means young warrior, you'll be a great warrior won't you be? Like general Ethan, a strong man!" I held him before my face, rubbing my nose against his, smiling at his giggles.

"Gods this is cute." I looked at Kela with her hand on her heart and I stuck out my tongue at her but I did enjoy this casual banter as in the back of my mind I was counting down to the day the eclipse would come.
