"Where are they?" I asked Mystery while saddling up Mir-til.

"They were sent ahead, an eagle arrived earlier needing the support of mages down south."

"You could have told me, damn."

"Language."

"Oh shut up." I rolled my eyes, it is a bummer I wanted to hang with the twins a bit.

"Ready to leave so early?" I turned with a smile.

"Hey Kela."

"Yes as it is only me and the kids."

"Sorry but I can fight too."

"Don't sta--" Smack. "And stop smacking me Kelarian."

"I am the oldest, I have the right to discipline kids." I grinned at her actions.

"Hah!" Smack. "Hey!!"

"You are a kid too Lin." I sighed and pouted before it shifting to a grin. "Seeing us off?" I nodded towards her light brown horse with a few braids in its mane.

"Quite the opposite."

"How so?"

"Well I've been lifted of my duties to look after the queen's half but not being your guard and the king agreed that it is a good idea.......... Plus I gotta make sure you won't die lost in a ditch."

"And I thought you liked me..."

"In your dreams."

"Well I accept, trust you more with looking out then Lin."

"He--" Smack. "I said nothing!!"

"Yet, you said nothing yet, I know how you are."

"The world is conspiring against me!!" Both of them gave me a flat look and I flipped them off just to get a smack from both, Mystery's on my forehead and Kela, like always, the back of my head.

"Why you glaring." I looked down at Kia who was riding with me, sitting in front holding Mir-til's mane gently.

"Nothing to worry you little head about." I ruffled her hair.

"Why is the nice lady coming with us?" She pointed at Kela who was riding in front with Mystery while I was more in the back.

"It isn't polite to point." I lowered her arm, I knew how to be polite but only rudeness seemed to get through to Mystery. "And she's with me."

"Your wife?" I swallowed my spit the wrong way and coughed my lungs out at what she said while she stared at me so innocently.

"W-what no! Nonononono, no.... She is just her to keep me safe because that's her job." I quietly explained, really hoping Kela's hearing wasn't that good.

"But you like people like her."

"I like elves that doesn't mean I will marry the first one I see."

"I would."

"No you won't."

"Why?"

I dragged my hand down my face.

"Because you need to be sure you want to spend your whole life with that person."

"So she is your wife."

"No." I said defeated, almost laughing at the loosing battle I was leading against my little sister who was fast to marry me off. "Making sure I don't die isn't the same as being in love."

"Why not?"

"It is fundamentally different Kia."

"Oh."

"Yeah love is needed." I thought I had won until she opened her mouth again.

"You love the pretty people." I sighed.

"It isn't the same."

"You love them."

"Kia."

"Yoooou looooove theeeeem."

"Kia!"

"You are no fun."

"And you are too young."

--------------------------------------------

We stopped for the night and Mystery went of to scout out the area while Kela and I set up the temporary camp, clearing out an area while gathering dead fire wood. Kia played out with Tra who I called forth to occupy her and look after her and she chased him around, he was well able to kill whatever could threaten her.

Unfortunately for me I was the only meat lover out of everyone, Kia took after Mystery even in her not liking meat despite being a dragon, I wouldn't miss it for a few days tho, or go hunting if I really do..... But someone would follow me as they don't want me alone.

As the sun set and Mystery called the first guard I sat off to the side with my back against a tree, close enough to the fire to still feel its warmth.

Kia had come over and was sleeping with my cape wrapped around her like a blanket and her head on my thigh.

"Here, don't get cold." I grabbed the cape Mystery threw me, she was already walking away to the post she set up before I could put my words in.

I tightened my grip before draping it over my shoulders.

"Sleep, you don't need to worry."

"I don't worry Kela."

"You do, nothing will happen to Kia."

I sighed, I was just worried about her, unlike us, she couldn't even rely on accidentally casting a magic spell if she was scared, she wasn't that trained either, so I worried.

I watched Kela roll out a sleeping bag.

"Came prepared." She smiled at my jealous gaze, kicking it next to me. "There, this way I am also here to be sure she's fine."

"I guess."

"Oh and Lin?"

"Yeah?"

"Let her dream."

I turned beet red because that meant she heard what Kia was saying.

"I'll freeze you in your sleep." I whisper yelled, shocked mute almost.

"Good night to you too."

I dragged my hand down my face, praying that my life won't become a bigger mess then it already is.
