I slid down the ruins and ducked under a blast of steaming water as mather jumped from the same ruin and hammerkick the man in the arm while I blasted my flames at his face from my down low position.
"Blue?" She asked, seeing the blue fire.
"Yeah, long time not seen huh?"
I hopped up straight and kicked the ground, all the surface melting and thrusted my arms in the arm to make the magma shoot in the air before mather sent it flying with a strong gust of air, screams following soon.
We always fought good together, it was important for her that if we were two mages we'd be able to completely understand each others cues and fight as one.... It is paying off.
"We cannot be that far, they are numerous." I said, sending icicles flinging around us. "Too many are trying to rush us."
"I agree, we need to clear these ones out first, their steps cloud my vision."
"Say no more!"
I flicked my daggers out, rushing at the nearest and body checking them down , slashing their throat before snapping my foot out and kicking one in the stomach.
I let the daggers go and let my magic whip them around me, lacerating those that rushed me after seeing me drop them, blood flying through the air.
I punched through the blood, sending it flying as small sharp needles that impaled the people, I cannot use blood magic like mather can I accept that but I won't forget I realized I could risk a moment of controlling the water in the blood as that wouldn't hurt me but was long enough to be lethal.
I was punched and stumbled but grabbed the arm that hit me, yanking me to the cloaked person and slamming my open palm into their chest, freezing through their skin to their heart, one gurgled gasp and they were gone as I turned to my next enemy.
I threw both arms out, the dagger flipping through the air and stabbing through two skulls.
This time I ducked a punch and reached my hand out to deviate a little of the silvery flames bursting forth behind my and made them splash the legs of those near me, it is great to have mather and I both fire proof in these situations when we come in contact with fire but I love my added bonus.
Ice crawled over my fists into razor sharp gauntlets and I gripped into a mans side, my claws cutting through flesh like knife through butter, I stabbed my other hand in his face before chucking the body at his allies.
As predicted there were a lot of cultists, they did hunt those desperate to fit in and unfortunately there were a lot but that also meant most had basic training in hand to hand or wild magic which let me plough through them before they could react.
I yanked my dagger out with magic and flung them out again.
"Lin!!"
"Got it!"
I shot myself up in the air with a pillar of stone and yanked my dagger to me and sheathed them as in a burst of flames a dragon caught me in her claws, flying low but fast, this was dangerous for her but looking at the sky the eclipse was almost on us and with no risk we won't make it.
I left a trail of flames and icicles to try to stop them from hurting her but rocks and other elements crashed up into her as she just continued to fly as low as possible and in a straight line.
I threw my hand out and whipped it out, yanking a huge cloud of dust up to hide us a bit.
When I was let go I flipped to land on my feet, my heels leaving deep grooves in the earth, my small blasts of magic and their echoes helping with judging the distance.
Her arm grabbed mine and pulled me along in a sprint, the small holes they put through her wings were peppered as small wounds over her body.
"Careful!!" The image of her almost dying flashed through my mind as I just shoved her, not wanting to relive the same.
"Lin!!" I was knocked over and the pain was instant as mather kicked the attacker off me and dragged me into a building, covering my mouth as the enemy ran by our hiding spot. "Why did you do that?! We agreed if one was to die to not waste time on it!" She yelled when they left.
"I-I am sorry." I shuttered, trembling hand over the left side of my face.
"Let me see." She pulled my hand away and brushed my mess of a hair away. "Hey it will be fine." She whispered when I flinched, the burning feeling getting worst.
"A-am I blind?!"
"No you idiot, the gods must want you to keep perfect vision as only your skin has been slashed open." Yeah I feel the deep gash from my forehead down the left side of my face, just narrowly passing over the outer edge of my eye and down my jaw, right... My eye is in one piece.
"No you can't waste magic."
"Lin."
"We must hurry."
"Lin!"
"Mather please listen! I can fight we need to go!" She sighed at me.
"Right." She agreed, helping me up. "We are standing almost right over the source of magic, we'll go straight down, will take a bit of time but only chance."
"Right."
And with a punch, she made the ground sink by half my height in a 6 feet radius.
I gulped in nervousness as this is almost it, gently putting my hand over my face with at least one finger over each side of the cut and pushing them closed, freezing the skin together to not bleed anymore, mather did something similar with burning her when she was still harmed by flames, her face scares being proof, I am just doing this with ice.... Making me even more like her which, now, made me want to smile despite the deadly situation.
