After recounting what happened to the elvish king and now also telling of the merging of the worlds and what that might mean regarding the cultist I had gone with Kela to help those that could have been in the path of destruction of the beast.

It had caused the death of many and injured many more but stopping it lead to less casualties then it would if I didn't interfere.

Tho I felt their eyes burn into me, my little stunt hadn't gone unnoticed after all and the word of it had spread.

----------------------------------------------------

I distanced myself from most, retreating into deeper parts of the elvish gardens, my dagger in one hand and my other in a fist and hitting the flat of the blade with my knuckles every now and again as I stared at it as if it would whisper its secrets to me.

I took a deep breath, eyes falling close and uncurled my fingers, lightly resting them on the metal, my magic bouncing off the inner surface of it.

Unlike how it was worded the blade wasn't pure, little imperfections blurred the magical echo enough for me to see it foggy.

"So that's why." I whispered and opened my eyes, slowly opening my hands, the blade hovering in place, barely above my hand and trembling badly but hovering still.

I watched in awe, the steel of the blade was filled with the smallest specks of dirt littered in the metal, not a surprise actually since the difference between an elvish sword and humans sword both made of steel and the same size, everything the same.... The only difference is the weight, the human sword is heavier... Must be all the dirt, still a solid blade but much heavier.

I grabbed the blade as it was hard to do this, sheathed it with a smile, an elemental mage bending metal to their will? what a foolish idea... I'll show them its possible, just you wait, I'll get out of Mystery's shadow and be my own person like this, finally do something she can't without wild magic.

"Lin, you here?"

"Hey Kela." I looked up.

"You missed dinner so I brought you something" I took the plate from her hands without standing up, sitting crisscross on a large root.

"Thanks." Tho I didn't dig in right away.

"This is mind blowing Lin, a merge of the realms, some type of spirit magic, the void not being as inescapable as we thought and spirits, you can do all this and have a pathetic fire hahaha.... Your destiny must be filled with greatness if such powers were granted to you."

"And with a lot of hurdles." I sighed softly, hanging my head. "It isn't enough that I live in the shadows of someone I am expected to surpass that cannot be bested but now have people out for me and can do something no one can do."

"Lin." I sighed. "You can't let others tell you who you are and aren't."

"Then what?" I looked at her. "All my life, I've been a dragon's legacy, not Lin the mage but the dragon's daughter, I cannot make anything without it being brought back to her and even she stopped, she doesn't want to train me in anything."

"Hey hey hey." I felt her hand on my shoulder. "A few of your statements don't really fit together but I get it okay?"

"How could you? You are nothing like me."

"I am not, by far, like you but I know about losing your identity to expectations of others, I am the king's guard while I was Kelarian the captain of the guard before. I am not known for who I am but who's above me, the king, it can be hard but I can assure you it will get better, people will understand given time, every life given by the gods is a blessing and one of a kind so don't let them bring you down, you are not her.... You are you."

I leaned into her hold, head on her shoulder.

"You believe so?" I asked, glancing up.

"I don't believe so I know so, they'll see past the veil of expectation and will get that you cannot be who they want you to be, they always end up understanding."

"Thanks."

"Why?"

"Nothing." I smiled as stared at the darkening sky through the leaves.
