I slowly walked up the stairs wit very solemn look.

"I see you've come back from your journey." I slowly looked up at granny with a soft frown dancing on my face. "Lies sooth the ache but the truth always hurts." She said as she stood and walked over, bringing me into her arms.

I hugged her back tightly.

"How could I be so selfish?"

"It's human to be selfish child, I know my departure caused pain and was partially also reason why Mystery has also changed but I never thought of the consequences, meaning that was a selfish choice."

"But what should I do now? I cannot face them."

"Follow your heart, now come you've been gone for three days you need to eat something."

I sat silently before I reached for my necklace and pulled it up, staring into the gem.

I've been told how much mattered to both of them, without it Mystery would have died the day of the black sun, that's the common name for that day, without it she wouldn't be here, I wouldn't have siblings nor a family.

I enclosed my hands around it and held it tightly, eyes closed.

I stood slowly and opened my eyes again and let go of the necklace.

I looked over at my sleeping granny and sighed, picking up my things and draping my cape over my shoulders.

"Leaving so soon?"

"I thought you were asleep." I said, the stone wall lowered to let myself out.

"Do not let your emotions cloud your judgement, do not hold onto pain, do not forget happiness, do not chase the past and do not flee the future child."

I took a deep breath and looked back at her.

"Right... It was nice to meet you again."

"Likewise and do not doubt yourself child, you are destined for much more then you think."

Walking through the forest was calming, an escape from my thoughts yet again.

I stopped walking, looking around before pulling out my bow which was in the quiver this time not around me, nocking an arrow and shooting it.

I heard a groan and quickly nocked another and shoot behind me, straight through the eye of a man rushing at me to have him crumple to the ground at my feet.

I pulled two more arrows back that I let fly before shoving the bow back in the quiver and freezing the top shut so I lost nothing.

Whipping my hands around in half a circle as water gathered from the air and lashed out, how many are there?! Damn my distraction!

I stomped my foot, a ripple through the ground causing them to stumble and fall as I just took off running when a jet of fire came at me, fuck wild mages.

I yelped and ducked a torrent of ice shards before whipping my arm around and the ice spinning around me to shoot back at the men.

I cursed as I ran right to a cliff as I could tell there were many with magical abilities, even I couldn't take them on.

I looked back at them, all those that caught up had black clothes with a golden eyes painted on their upper chest, a hood over their face.

"Give up and you may live." A gruff voice said.

"As if I would want anything to do with you." I brought my two arms up.

"The darkness will rise with or without your help." How could I even help with some cultist shit?

"I would never help some end of the world shenanigans you work towards."

I threw out my right fist as my words angered the main man that was speaking but the one time I tried to use my flame magic I only produced a small flame which was nothing compared to the huge torrent of it coming at me.

I sidestepped but there was no ground under my foot, having been way too focused on these men to even think about anything else other then fighting them, which lead me into an oh so familiar tumble off something, this time it being a cliff.

I hit the water of a lack bellow and felt searing pain in my ribs that made me gasp.

I grabbed at the air bubbles that escaped me, them rupturing around my fingers as it hurt so much to move.

I stared up sadly, vision tunneling as my mouth fell open, the pain paralyzing.

I'm sorry I couldn't come back home....

The pain was fading with the world.

And I welcomed sleep.

Something grabbed my hand in my last seconds of consciousness.
