I sprinted towards the sound or breaking tree and fierce growls.
I threw my hand out, the ground rising into a slop and with a snap of my wrist ice covered it as I sent a strong blast of air out behind me.
I slide up and flew in the air by the force of my blast, sending me up over the tree.
I snapped my legs out, each colliding with a different branch to slow myself to a complete stop as I looked on in awe.
Devines are being here from the start of time, the first creations of the gods, beings of the elements, they are true neutral beings, living their lives wandering the world without a care, sometimes we need to rebuild towns as one walked through it but they never engage unless provoked as a self preservation act, Mystery had killed two of them in her younger years as she told us and her tattoos were proof of the creatures.
So knowing all this of the devines it was a shock to see one locked in a battle with another being.
This devine seemed to be made of thinly crafted marble, white and red rock, chains of gold sliding around on the surface of the six limbs as if they were the muscles, it looked like a six legged giant bull made of stone.
The head had four eyes made of an amalgamation of many gems the color of the rainbow, it was so huge one eye was my size.
I covered my face as it bellowed, creating strong winds before blasting pure green magic from its maw, tree bursting aflame in its path.
Then I saw the much smaller things causing this devine to go on a rampage.
Winged snakes with fins, they were at least six times my height and many, circling the devine, their blueish black color the only thing visible as they zipped through the air and stopped after a strike to the devine.
I gasped as I saw a huge chunk of the marbled body crumble away revealing more golden chains inside.
I snapped out of my thoughts and blasted myself off on another tree as the one I was on was met with the green magic.
"How?" I muttered, those snakes.... They can't be....
I jumped of the tree, plummeting towards the ground before landing on a translucent blue eagle that was huge, lifting me up in the sky, Mystery can make wolves while I can make an eagle of pure magic.
"Fly buddy." I said despite it having no mind of its own, grabbing the feathers as it pushed through the air. "If we do nothing people might perish."
I hopped off the eagle as a snake dove at it when we got near and tumbled down the rear end of the devine before I froze my hand to the surface and dragged myself on the flat part of its back.
I just took off sprinting towards the head, being another target to these dark snakes now.
I pulled my bow out and nocked an arrow, shooting when they got close enough to me or the devine.
I scrambled up its neck and slid down so I was standing on the muzzle, freezing my boots to the stone as precaution.
I watched the snake crash behind me as I ducked down earning another deafening bellow that left a ring in my ears.
I glared at the dark snake before my gaze softened, having enough time to get a good look at it before it took off again.
I closed my eyes and lifted my hands.
"Don't be scared." I whispered, lifting my head and hands, opening my eyes. "This is nothing that be scared off."
My magic tugged at a force I never felt but knew I was doing it right.
Thin glowing golden tendrils slowly rose from below the canopy of trees, all leaning to the left and snaking up in the air like that, rising up high, higher then the devine who was huge to start of with.
It felt more weighty then water but flowed just like it, it looked like the golden liquid from the spirit fountain.
"It's all good, no one want to bring you harm." I spoke softly as I let instinct move my hands around to its wishes as the golden tendrils shrunk even smaller to the thickness of my pinkie and wrapped the devine up line vines before moving passed me and encircling the snakes as they flew off the devine's body.
I watched the darkness almost wash away from the winged snakes scale, leaving a light blue in their place and the dark pits for their eyes took up a familiar serpentine yellow hue with a slit in it.
I stumbled a little and fell to my knees, the magic fading into golden dust as I watched the snakes, each behaving almost as if they were waking from a deep slumber.
I stared down one as it hovered close to my face before almost bowing its head and flying away with it's flock.
I had a vine climbing up a nearby tree pluck me off the devine's muzzle as, now safe and calmed, it took off, continuing its road towards no goal.
I stared at the devine with a smile as the chips in the rock that made it up mended by themselves as it was a being of magic, now that it wasn't fighting for its life it could help itself.
----------------------------------------------------
"That's amazing." I looked behind me as the vine set me down to see a crowed of elves gathered with Kela pushing her way to the front.
"Isn't it?" I said, looking towards the way I heard the thud of the devine's stone hooves.
"How..?" She whispered.
"Instinct mostly."
"No one ever saw these creatures."
"I feared that would be the case."
"Why?"
"That just proved to me that these snakes.... they were spirits.... the merge is much closer then I thought." I mostly spoke to myself.
Then it is true, the realms are getting closer, this is not good.
