"Funny." I said, stepping forth before kneeling down, hands resting on my lap. "I thought monks were not to have children."

"And I thought mages supposed to switch queen and kingdom if they were of royal blood like your aunt Calypso had done."

"Exceptions are always what strengthen the rules aren't they?"

"Couldn't have said it better."

his face and body was lean, his head as bald as the other monks but he was beardless, his jaw sharp, his eyebrows were thin and setting in a natural scowl over his soft golden brown eyes.

"Yo we both know why I am here don't we?" I asked after a stare off between us.

"We do."

"So I'll skip right to the chase.... Why did you abandon me?"

"It wasn't an easy choice but it needed to be done."

"Why? Why did I need to be left to my own devices? Why dump me?"

"Because you were special and it was for your safety."

"But why?"

"Lets meditate, the spirits will show the way."

I sighed but shifted to sit crisscrossed like he did and brought my fists up against each other as I closed my eyes.

-------------------------------------

And like many times before I felt myself fall through the ground.

With a whistle Tra picked us up out of the sky.

"Lead the way." I told the man that was my blood father.

-------------------------------------

We flew high and long, I saw the forest of Seraphim wheeze past under us and the village of my mather, picking up eye contact for a second with her before Tra had flown past.

"As you know only highly spiritual people or those with high magic will be sent to the spirit plains upon death but do you know what happens to the rest?"

"Yeah, they are reborn in a new life."

"Not totally true, the worst of the souls, the corrupt and wrong fine their way to the void to suffer for their crime."

"This adds an ever worsening point to the 'future end of the world' scale with Aurelius and his pawns after me."

"He is evil incarnate we all know that if we know anything off him but in the void his essence merged with the others there and grew in power, he cannot escape, or even the silver dragon's spell that took him down first will be of no use."

"Lovely!"

"But he can't escape by himself, he has no corporeal body to take over."

"But even so they hunt me so I must be needed in some too and not a simple body."

"True."

Tra crashed through a black star-y bubble in the sky, leaving us moving through black like when he brought me to see my mather's memories.

"You are special child, no one is like you are."

Tra vanished but we continued floating and a scene with snowy mountains and blizzard came into view.

"I was still young and naive, I left to hunt but lost my way home."

I saw him, right now his features show he's around 40 but in this memory he was around my age.

He stumbled through the snow on the side of the mountain with a heavy looking fur coat around his shoulder, pulling a boar behind him.

"I didn't predict the blizzard would come so fast."

I winced as he tripped and tumbled down the mountain side and winced again when he finally had stopped the heavy boar fell on top of him.

"My body was cold and I couldn't feel my limbs much less shove the boar off me so I just prayed for death to be swift but to this day I don't know why fate spared me, why she spared me."

"What the hell?" I whispered, seeing the same snow and ice figure of a woman I saw once in my mind appear out of the snow and come to the rescue of this man.

"When next I awoke I was here in this temple."

The scenery changed to match his speech.

"Soon I learned my savior was the spirit of winter, one of the many spirits lost in our world after the shift had separated the worlds again, she had inhabited the snow of the mountains, the ice of the lake and the chill of the air so long ago, she was older then many spirits humans knew of at the time but one of the youngest and most naive stuck on our side of the world."

I watched this spirit interact with him and many other monks, teaching them of the spirits herself.

"She was young and interested in these fragile beings called humans, we were a fascination to her and in exchange of her helping us we'd return the favor and teach her of our material world."

"That's nice." I whispered and he nodded.

"It was."

"What happened?"

"Many years ago something impossible happened."

"In other words?"

"We fell in love."

I looked back wordlessly at the scenery change, both figures worriedly watching a gut wrenching sight.

I gripped my pendant with a gulp, the pained cries of the baby tearing at my heart as the newborns skin was peeling away in places and leaking blood with white and blue smoke floating up from the wound too.

I fell to my knee, suddenly weak as I watched the small body shaking in horrendous pain as the screams were echoing loudly.

"A union between a spirit and one with a physical body had never taken place and the life resulting from it was not stable, the body trying to keep itself together as the laws of our world tried to make its existence short."

"I am so sorry." I tried to caress the tear stained face of the infant but my hands passed through, my own tears rolling down my face, as if my apology would change something to the past I never lived.

"We knew this child would not live like this, Yuki gave her life up in exchange for the child to live a long and happy life."

I whipped my face as I stood.

"We have much to see." I looked at him.

"Even more?"

"This is just the start of the story... Of your story."

"Then lets continue."
