My knees were bent with my left leg pulled back and almost full on sideways to my target.
My right arm was held up in front of me with my palm facing the ground, the left pulled up by my face in a fist.
I did a half turn, stepping forth with my left leg and planting it solidly on the ground while closing my right fist and bringing it down to my waist while punching with the other one.
And only produced a small fist sized puff of fire.
"Dammit!" I groaned, stepping forth so I was facing the target straight on, left arm still straight out, the right opened flat, set against my bicep before sliding it down my arm as the left fist ended up back by my face and the right fist was the one to punch the air but no luck.
"What's up with me?!" I was pissed, I was supposed to be good at fire if my hair has some say in it, heck I am literally her blood.
"You seem to be struggling." I glanced back at.... Euh.
"Hi there..... Kelarak?"
"Kelarian." She said, stopping by my side as I dropped my arms. "So some trouble, I hope nothing to do with your ribs."
"Right sure Kelarian, and no not my ribs, it's just like Mystery can spew flames and I am blood related so why can I not?" I puffed my small fist sized fire, a camp fire would beat me right now.
"She is indeed really powerful with flames."
"You should have seen her, gods would be jealous."
"Do not mention them in vain and I did, some decades ago."
"Oh right I seem to be the only one that isn't spiritually inclined here sorry.... And you did? Oooh the black sun day?"
"No I wasn't there, I was with the king trying to keep the undead distracted and at bay."
"Then how could you have seen her flames? She isn't that outright 'oh look at me I'm a freaking dragon' type of gal."
"Well." She pulled up her sleeve to show quite a huge scar from her inner wrist to her elbow. "This is her doing."
"What?!" I poked it before I looked at her. "That could have been a really bad wound."
"It was but she did need to make me give up the fight."
"The fight...." I gasped and pointed at her as if she grew a second head. "You were fighting for my mother's hand in the trials!!"
"No need to be so loud." She gently slapped my hand away. "What off it? I knew I would have lost anyway and she did too, king Alabard just chose his, at the time, top guardsmen.... Or woman in my case, to go with his son to the trials to show he wasn't being rude by refusing the two best in his castle from going."
"Oh, cool." I stood all my weight on my left leg and my hip popped out as I crossed my arms, I feel like I could chat away for a long time. "How was she back then?"
"Well what I got to see she was calm and neutral, always calculating but very respectful and even in disrespect she was as polite as she could be but also was a force to be faced with." So I did exaggerate her hate towards me.... I feel even worst but also more confused.
"But less cold then nowadays?"
"Indeed I think, everyone heard of the old head mage going missing and, bless his soul, mage Leo's heroic death, it changed her for sure tho I don't know the extent." She rolled her sleeve down and my eyes followed her movement.
"She refuses to teach me anything dangerous, like I know it is dangerous I get that, but it could save my life once, I learnt my lesson long ago, everyone says I am impulsive and can't control my emotions, okay I get that too but I love being a mage, I love what this life offers me but I can't learn anything."
"You should talk to her about that.... But speaking about training, your flames are pathetic."
"Hey!" I huffed, crossing my arms even more.
"Look, whatever keeps your fire at bay is easy to figure out, your own inhibition to use it, what the whole world heard about the three new mages of Solor are all good news following who were before them but people are whispering as to why the daughter of the silver dragon cannot produce flames." I flinched slightly at the title, the one I hated the most, taking everything from my identity away and making me nothing but her daughter.
"We long had a fall out over certain.... Things.... I refused to be like her and hated her even.... And my innate magical typing was ice like Calypso but now it is fire."
"So you suppressed, locked it away so you wouldn't use the magic she is proficient in."
"I guess so..."
"Well." She spun on her heel while lifting a hand and waving me after her. "Come with, it will be a bit of time before they get here so I can lend you a helping hand."
"Nice." I smiled and jogged to catch up, she was half a head taller but even that put some length to her strides that I didn't have in my own.
