"Why does spirit stuff like glowing blue?!" I asked myself.
This was a huge tubular room, the hollowed out torso of the devine, huge gears spinning and chains so large I couldn't touch my hand if I tried to embrace a link moving back and forth, all moving in sync to make the devine move.
Through all the grinding of the stone I could hear a whooping noise, a constant whoop, almost like a heartbeat, these plants pulsing with the same rhythm.
"This shouldn't be hard." And the next thing I know is I am stumbling as the ground under my feet shifts and I slide down, catching myself on the crawling plants as the devine moved in some way. "I need to find to middle point, the ground zero of this 'infection' before it destroys everything in its way."
And if dangling wasn't bad enough hissing soon came to my ears as the ground lowered to the flat surface again.
"Oh heavens!!" I looked up, seeing arm sized transparent lizards crawling across the 'ceiling' so densely I didn't see the stone that made it up.
"Crap!" I spun on myself to kick the one launching at me away, it hit the ground before instantly swelling up and bursting into a cloud of sparkling dust, making the rest hiss even more and the thrills on their back wiggle side to side, almost as if they were threatening me which I don't doubt.
"Extermination day has come my lovelies!" with a punch a ball of fire scorched a hole in their gathering.
I spun and dragged my left foot across the ground, fiery sparks jumping around and catching the plants on fire as I blasted this harmful spirits again.
I usually wouldn't have gone this way, hell I would maybe have tried to shepard them out but we didn't have time and they were hostile parasites along with the plants.
The orange glow of the fire soon over powered the plants and despite the overwhelming amount of these lizards I saw they were mostly just that, lizards so it was easy to kill and keep them at bay.
I let the flames rage on as they wouldn't hurt the devine nor myself, fire is cleansing, some plants in the south can only grow after fires ravaged the land they will sprout on, one of those flowers is the fire Lily, petals the colours of fire and when made in a tee the drinker will feel warm for a long time which means it is bought a lot here up north.
Just as fire helped those flowers bloom it would also help the devine.
"The fire will free the inside, I need to get rid of the outside plants."
I climbed up between the gears to reach a narrow tunnel and pushed my was through, crawling out the right ear of the buck.
I braced my feet and shot the plants off the eye, the fire eating away at the fragile physical bodies of the spirit plants, burning faster then paper burns.
I pulled myself on the muzzle and almost fell off as it shook itself but held on for dear life with my hands in the small cracks this plants created in the smooth rock surface.
When it stopped moving I ran to the other side and freed the other eye, now seeing black and sparkling purple smoke rise from the mouth and ears of the buck as the all consuming inferno blazed inside.
I screamed as it rose its head and I fell down its neck and tried to brace my legs for landing hand on its shoulders but the slope to it sent me falling further.
"Fuck!" I froze my hand to the side to keep from falling down the side as pain pulsed through my left leg.
I pulled myself up on its back and tried to stand but my leg wasn't having it so I was almost hopping on one foot and hugging the spirit trees for dear life and the buck was now trying to get rid of me as these on its back weren't the ones hurting it but those that were inside.
When I got a break from it I let out two lashes of fire that quickly spread through the plants, the liquid in the outer tube soon turning as gold as its antlers.
I kneeled down and just held on as winds almost brought me away as it turned its head to look at me and started to breath in, the air just rushing in its mouth as magic started to gather again.
I tried to get up but my leg protested, sending me down.
I stared wide eyed at the growing and pulsing ball of magic.
Don't be stupid Lin, no one can stand up to a devine's blast.
But it would ricochet off the body and cause enormous damage to the ground below, hurting people this time.
Lin you cannot face down a devine being, it will ricochet either way.
I must try, I cannot run from it anyway.
Stop talking to yourself and act!
"Just like lightning." I whisper to myself, throwing my arms out, creating a big tilted half sphere of pure magic as flawlessly as I could.
I saw a flash of light and then nothing.
-------------------------------------
It took some time until the blinding light left my vision and I soon regained my vision tho a bit lacking in color and brightness for now.
I also realized I was free falling off the being.
"But at least the people are safe." Pure magic hitting pure magic head on clashes hard but in a domed surface and a smooth one is just slides across it and shoots off it as an arrow bouncing of a wall.
I stared at the chuck I accidentally blew out of the devine's skull, the golden antler ripping off and taking with it part of the skull along with an eye, exposing the big gears inside as it cried out again.
"Tra!" As quick as I called for him as quick had he picked me out of the air, flying up and avoiding the falling antler. "Will it be alright?" I asked as the devine stopped its jittery movements, straightened its neck and started walking towards the mountain range it blew a chunk out off.
"Even this damaged, a devine is dangerous, do not worry for it but by saving it you saved many lived from its rampage in suffering."
"Happy to help." I smiled at the devine.
"Told you, you were special but I would have never guessed your closeness to spirits came from you being one of us."
"I always liked helping people out, that counts in that too, the will to help everyone and help bring peace and unity." I smiled brighter.
