"Vive la France!" The meeting came to its end and chatter among the men filled the room. I was sitting on Grantaire's lap curling his hair around my finger as he spoke to Marius and Feuilly about something that I didn't bother listening to. His hands rubbed my back up and down soothingly and would occasionally smile up at me when he wasn't speaking.

"It's really raining out there, eh?" Feuilly commented.

"Yeah"

"Damn"

The boys in the conversation answered.

"My love?" I switch my view from the large window to Grantaire and hum in response, going back to playing with his dark curls.

"We should get going." "Okay." He pecks my cheek before I get off of his lap and start saying goodbye to the men in the room.

I finish off my goodbyes and see Grantaire waiting for me at the meeting room door. I smiled at him and ran into his arms. He spun me in the air and then lowered me down to his face so that he could kiss me. We were incredibly in love and could not get enough of each other. He smiles into the kiss and tightens his grip around me.

"Oye! Get a room!" Gavroche shouts from Courfeyrac's lap.

We break apart from the kiss and I place my feet back on the ground. I didn't handle the situation well as I was blushing but Grantaire was, no surprise here, extremely confident.

"We will!" He winks before interlocking our hands together and walking out of the café with me.

Grantaire held his jacket over our heads as we ran back to our apartment to try and block us from the rain, but the jacket was failing us miserably.

We were drenched.

His curls were flat against his face and my hair had lost all of its volume.

"This is useless." He folded his jacket over his arm and looked to me.

"You alright?"

"Yes. You know what I always wanted to do?" He shakes his head no.

"Dance in the rain." I jog ahead and start spinning in circles letting the rain hit my face as I look up. Grantaire watches me from where he was standing before joining me on the road to getting sick. He grabs my hands and begins to twirl me and then I twirl him.

After a while of dancing awfully, we begin to slow dance in the hard rainfall. My arms around his neck and his around my waist, foreheads touching. Both of our eyes are closed and we enjoy each other's company with the soothing sound of rain hitting the cobblestone.

"Y/n?" He asks me. I hum in response, my eyes remaining closed.

"Have you ever wanted to kiss in the rain?" I smile and nod, my eyes still closed.

His lips touch mine softly and tenderly and we stop our dancing to take advantage of the romantic moment in play. My hands travel up to his hair and one of his hands comes up from my waist to hold my cheek. He slowly pulls away from the kiss and digs his hands into his back pockets. As he digs he says

"I was going to wait a little longer to make sure that I was sure I wanted to do this, but I know I'm sure now." His hands search his front pockets.

"Jesus, where is it?!" I furrow my eyebrows in confusion.

"Ah! Here it is."

He slowly gets down on one knee and pulls out a silver ring. I gasp and cover my mouth with my hands.

"Y/n, we are currently soaking wet and in the middle of the street and I know it isn't the most amazing time and place to be doing this but I just couldn't wait any longer because I know that I want to be with you forever." He takes a deep breath in and out. "Okay, here we go." He lets go of the ring with one hand and holds it out to me to hold, I obey and hold his wet hand.

"Y/n, I love you so, so much and to be without you feels like, like shit. You are the perfect girl for me. You aid me when I am drunk, so all the time, you hold me when I am upset about something, you never fail to make me smile and all in all, you make me so happy. I've had this ring in my pocket for almost two months now and everyday I have contemplated whether or not I should ask you to become mine forever. I was scared you would get freaked out, or reject me but I am not scared anymore. So y/n l/n, will you marry me?"

I immediately nod my head and laugh while a tear slips out of my eye. He smiles widely and slips the ring onto my finger. He gets up from his knee and kisses me. As we kiss, he spins me in the air and then cups my face with his hands, never breaking the kiss. When we pull away, he tightly hugs me, I hug him back and we smile into each other's shoulders.

It was official, we were to be married.
