Chapter 5

Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! He offered to hang out and play music. Oh my god!! I wanted to jump around and scream, but that would definitely scare him. Play it cool Sai!! He just got back into your life, now is not the time to fuck it up. Wait, he's looking at me with a funny expression. Oh shit! I look like a grinning idiot! Stop it.

"Well, let's find a time to meet up then. Is your line still the same? If not, I should grab it or your number."

Was he blushing? He is so cute and adorable, I want to squish him. Huh? when did I start sounding like a fangirl when I talk to myself? Nevermind....

"Ah, yes, my line is the same. I had to change my number a while back because I lost my phone. Give me yours and I'll type it in."

I watched him fiddle with the phones. I thought about what he had told me. It would be nice to meet up with everyone some time. Talking about our uni days made me miss my friends. I realized I hadn't spent much time with Tor and Day in the last few months. I should call them. I snapped back to reality when he gave me my phone back.

"Thanks. Give me a sec, I'll text you so you can call me too."

Saifah, master of subtlety! But I hope he calls me. I smiled when I heard the ding from his phone. He picked it up, typed something and looked up at me. Woosh... is it me or is the air being sucked out of the bar? The sound from my phone interrupted my thoughts. I read his text "— (Zon) I missed this". I looked up in surprise, then grinned. I typed back "— (Saifah) me too". We sat there looking at each other. Unfortunately, his phone rang.

"Excuse me, Sai. This is Zol. I better answer or I will be getting calls from the whole family within 5 mins."

He got up and walked a few feet away to answer. I could not hear him but he was speaking animatedly to his sister. I chuckled, they were likely arguing. These two always had a bit of a love/hate relationship. I have to admit I was a bit jealous. I wish I had siblings. While he was talking to Zol I settled the bill. At the very least I could invite him for drinks again under the pretence that he owed me one. He hung up and sat back down across the table.

"You won't believe it. Zen just proposed. She told him it was sweet but they were not ready for it yet and that they had to live together for a while longer before they'd know if they are compatible. Zen is pretty easy going, but he got mad, grabbed the ring back, his coat and walked out the door telling her she could be an ass on her own."

He was shaking his head and I was unsure what to say or do. It sounded serious.

"Don't worry. This is pretty much the usual monthly instalment of the Zen-Zol soap opera. But he will likely be waiting for me at my condo to rant over a beer. They usually patch things up after they calm down and have a proper discussion. I'm sorry Sai, but I have to go."

"That's no problem. And to think that a few minutes ago I wished I had siblings...."

"Ah ah... She's pretty great, just a bit dramatic. She actually got me through some pretty rough times, so I don't mind being there for them."

Rough times? It made me sad to think I hadn't been around to help him. And Zol! Arggh!! I could throttle her. How could she mess with my love life.... again!!!!

"I just settled the bill so we can go. I'll walk you to your car."

"Ok, thanks"
