Song: Virginia To Vegas, "Just Friends"

It's a good thing Zen's a light weight because it wouldn't take long before he passed out. Thankfully, he's not like Junior who raves and rants for hours, and passes out only after everyone is too drunk to move. I sighed, wishing I didn't end up in the middle every time they needed to work things out. Right on cue, the phone rang.

"Zon, is he with you?"

"Yes, as usual. You guys need to stop dragging me into your business."

"I know, I'm sorry. He surprised me and I freaked out. I want to talk to him but he turned his phone off."

"Zol, he's had two drinks and started the third, so we both know it'd be useless. Come for breakfast tomorrow. I have to leave early anyway. Don't worry, I'll take care of him."

"Thank you. I owe you one. I love you."

"Yes you do. Just remember that when the time comes. I love you too. Good night."

"Good night Zon."

I made some food and drank a beer while I listened to Zen ramble on, alternatively texting Saifah. By 10 pm, I was exhausted and Zen was half asleep. I brought a pillow and blankets to settle him on the couch for the night, then showered and got ready for sleep. As lay down in bed, I texted Saifah one last time and fell asleep cuddling my phone. I got up early the next morning, had breakfast and got ready for work. It was a busy week and I had a business trip coming up. My phone buzzed while I was brushing my teeth.

— (Saifah) Good morning, My Zon. I hope you slept well. Is Zen feeling better?

I couldn't help smiling as I picked up my bag. Zen looked at me and groaned.

"Why are you so happy this morning? Stop it, it's making my headache worse."

"How you get hungover after three beers is beyond me. Quit whining and get ready. She's going to be here soon."

"Zol is coming here???"

"Yes, I got tired of being in the middle. Sort things out on your own this time. You're both old enough. Just so you know, you just freaked her out a bit and she panicked."

"I guess she's your sister after all."

"Don't be a smart-ass." I smacked the back of his head as I passed by him on my way out. "Go get ready. And for all of our sake, just talk to each other."

"Yes, yes. I know. Sorry for crashing here."

"It's ok, you know you're welcome anytime. I just don't like seeing both of you unhappy." I smiled at him. "Alright, I have to go. Don't forget to lock up."

"Thanks Zon."

And with that I escaped the apartment, finally free to answer Saifah's text, away from prying eyes.

— (Zon) Zen has a well deserved headache. Zol's coming to meet him, so I'm escaping to work. Have a great day. ttyl.

— (Saifah) I hope they work it out. Have a great day too. 😊
