(Okay.... now THAT *image above* is hot! XD Please help me!)
*Raine's P.O.V*
Once we arrived back in LA, I was... relieved... to say the least. I thought that a trip to visit my mom would be nice- and for the most part, it was- but there was one thing that threw everything down the drain for me. I'm just glad that Ryan doesn't know... it's the last thing he needs right now after Pauline ....
*Flashback to the Last Day of Everyone's Visit to NC (3rd person omniscient)*
"Raine?" Jillian (Raine's mother) asked, poking her head around the corner of the formal living room doorway. "Can I see you for a minute?"
Raine stood from her spot, sitting on the arm of a long, black "L" shaped couch in the den beside Ryan, and followed her mother upstairs. When they reached Cheyanne's room, Raine shut the door behind them and sat on the bed.
"Is everything okay, mama?" The black and purple-haired gamer asked, concerned a bit at Jillian's actions.
"Ryan.... He's that one gamer you always told me about, right?"
"The one from 8-BitGaming, yeah." Raine said, still confused. "Why?"
"How do I put this in a way that won't come across too harsh....?" Jillian then questioned herself. She was afraid of Raine's reaction, but what she was about to tell her was the truth. She'd felt this way since she met him for the first time a couple days ago; something about the chestnut brit just put her on edge.
"Mom, what are you talking about?"
"I don't... I don't really like Ryan..." She said.
"Okay...?" Raine couldn't believe what she heard. "But you just met him. It takes more than one time of seeing someone to somewhat learn them, but those things increase over time. I don't understand why you're jumping out like this so soon."
"He doesn't look good for you."
"Doesn't look good for me?" Raine said, shocked to hear her voice rising a bit. She hadn't meant for it too, and Jillian looked taken aback as well. Raine shook her head, trying to calm herself down before speaking again. "Ryan is perfect for me. I don't want to be with anyone else-"
"I don't think he's the right kind of person for you. He's going to hold you back, Raine ."
"What makes you think that?" The purple-haired girl challenged.
Jillian looked away for a minute, thinking of what to say.
"He reminds me of Jason-"
"No." Raine said, getting up to leave. "Ryan is nothing like Jason. Ryan cares for me in a way that that stupid sh*thead never could. Ryan treats me right; He makes me feel like I'm an actual person, not a piece of property."
Raine was glad that Ryan wasn't in the room with them, but what she didn't know was that the chestnut gamer was on the other side of the door.
Ryan had come upstairs to get Raine so that the group could leave in time for their flight back to LA. It had only been a minute after Raine came up, and the group hadn't really seen her leave. Before he had time to knock, he'd heard everything- from Jillian saying that she didn't think Raine should be with him, to Raine defending him and being offended when her mom compared him to her ex, Jason.
When he heard Raine starting to make her way to the door, Ryan darted downstairs, acting normal once he got to the den.
"She's coming." He said, putting his hoodie on as Raine came downstairs, seeming a bit blown-off.
