BAGUIO (Chapter 26)

Naliligo si Ashur nang mag-ring ang cellphone ni Airish. She doesn't want to answer whoever's calling, kaya hindi niya sinagot. Pero nang tumunog ulit ang cellphone niya ay irita niyang kinuha ito at kumunot ang noo niya. Si Serenity ang tumatawag.

"Hello?" Sagot niya.

"Ate!" There's a sigh of relief in her voice. "Thank God you answered!" Kumunot ang noo niya sa sinabi nito. "Listen. Don't interrupt me. Just listen first." Tumango siya sa sinabi nito kahit hindi naman siya nito nakikita. "They will come and get you. Alam na nilang nasa Baguio kayo ni Ashur. And they are at their limits again. They are going nuts! If I can only kill them, I will! Ugh! Bakit ba kasi ang haba ng buhay ng mga 'yon? Nakakairita na!"

Mukhang nakalimutan na nito ang tunay na sasabihin sa dami na agad ng sinabi nito. "Serenity. Calm down."

"I can't!" Serenity shouted.

She sighed. "Breathe. Just breathe. They won't get me that easily. We've come this far, so, I won't let them off the hook."

Serenity heaved a deep sigh. "I'll tell you na. I heard them planning to get you from Ashur. Mukha raw kasing wala na sa plano mo ang pagkuha ng information kay Ashur, at mukhang na-inlove ka na raw. Now, magpapadala sila ng mga tauhan. And they plan to just kill Ashur para raw sumunod ka na ulit sa utos nila."

Hindi siya agad nakasagot sa sinabi ni Serenity dahil lumabas na si Ashur ng banyo. Inipit niya sa likod ng jogging pants na suot niya ang cellphone para hindi ito maramdaman o makita ni Ashur.

She may be joking around with him but her mind is thinking of how to keep Ashur safe.

Hinintay na muna ni Airish si Ashur na makalabas ng bahay bago kausapin ulit si Serenity.

"Hello. Sorry. I don't want Ashur to hear us." Sabi niya rito.

"Duh. E'di kayo na happy ng Martins na 'yan." Sarkastikong sagot nito.

She chuckled. "Baliw. May sugat kasi ako sa paa kaya hindi ako makalad para lumayo kay Ashur kanina. S—."

"What?! May sugat ka? Paano ka niyan—."

"Chill." Putol niya sa pagsesermon nito. "Kaya ko. Don't worry. Now, tell me the details."

Serenity sighed. "5pm. 30 men— 3 SUV's with 5 men each. 5 trucks with 3 men each. Plan A, infiltrate the house kill anyone inside except you. Plan B, ambush, get you and leave Ashur behind."

She sighed. "Gather some of our men. Palitan mo ang kalahati ng tauhan nila. Hanggat maaari 'yong mga sasakay sa SUV ang tauhan nila. I don't want to kill our loyal men. Ang iba sa kanila ang magdadala kay Ashur sa hospital at magsisiguro na walang nagtatangka na patayin siya. Tell them that 'If Ashur got killed, I'll hunt them down.'"

"I'll go with them. Oh. Wait. 'Wag na pala. Hihintayin na lang kita sa mansion. Baka magtaka sila kapag kasama ako. Pero... I'm bored here. Like really bored."

Napa-irap si Airish sa sinabi ni Serenity. "Bored, ikaw? Kelan ka pa na bored? The last time I check the net, may sinapak ka na lalaking model."

"Ugh. Don't mention it. And also, he deserved it. At saka hindi lang naman ako ang... wala. Wala. Never mind."
