I wake up in the middle of the night. I hear a muffled cough before someone clearing their throat. 'Corpse?' I ask as I rub my eyes. It's a little past four in the morning and corpse is nowhere to be seen. I get up, quietly walking out of the bedroom.

I find the door across the kitchen slightly ajar.
I haven't been into that room.
I yawn as I walk up, knocking softly. 'Yeh?' Corpses voice is deeper then usual. 'Can I come in?' I ask. 'Sure.' He says. I open the door a little further and rub my eyes while stepping into the room. 'Why are you up?' I ask. I see him sitting at his desk. Pc on and eyepatch over his right eye. He looks pale as he clears his throat again 'couldn't sleep and didn't want to wake you.' He says. I walk up closer 'are you okay?' I ask. 'Yeah.' He coughs a little. His voice is way deeper, and I don't think that's good. 'Come to bed, it's cold here.' I say. I notice that the window is open and it's raining outside. 'It's fine, go ahead and sleep.' He says. 'No, what's wrong?' I ask honestly concerned. He sighs and looks at me 'please go back to bed.' He says, sounding a little annoyed. Understanding that he wants space I place my hand on his shoulder and give him a smile before heading back to bed.

In bed I'm sitting up against the headboard. 'What's going on with him peb?' I whisper to my cat. She meows as response. 'I'm worried about him, but he wants to be alone.' I say softly. I sigh and pull my legs up to my chest. I sit like that in the dim light of the small lamp on his nightstand. Forty minutes pass by before I get up again. Not to go and bother him, but to get some water in the bathroom. I walk out and into the bedroom, drinking from the tap.

When I walk back out I see him leaning on the kitchen counter as he has his hand over his stomach. 'Corpse?' I ask as I stay my distance. He's slightly shaking as he doesn't react to me. I don't really know what to do now. He wants his space, but I want to help. It looks like he needs help.

'Please talk to me.' I say as I fiddle with my fingers. Leo comes walking up at my voice. He sniffs corpses leg before wagging his tail and looking up at him. He clears his throat again. 'Can I come closer?' I ask. I don't want to overstep a boundary. 'I'm worried about you.' I say softly. 'Fine.' He says in a really rough and deep voice.

I quickly walk over, if it's not running, and place my hand on his arm. It's freezing cold. 'Jesus you're really cold.' I say as I look at his face. He's pale and sweating. 'God.' I breath out. His expression is a little pained. 'If you don't want to lay down in bed, then please sit down on the couch.' I say as I take his hand in mine. He's way to cold. He follows me to the couch. When there I put the blankets that are still there around him. 'Want something to drink?' I ask. He shakes his head 'no thank you.' He says softly. 'Hey...' I reach for his face and make him turn to me 'tell me what's going on.' I say with a sad expression. 'Please.' I beg him. 'My symptoms are playing up.' I take his cold hand in both of mine. 'What symptoms?' I ask.

Something isn't right with his throat and his stomach must be hurting. Probably so bad that he's in a cold sweat because of it.

'Heart burn, stomach pain. Acid....' he clears his throat. 'It's damaging your voice.' I say more to myself then him as I hold his hand a little tighter. 'Yeah.' I sigh 'do you have any medication for it?' I ask. 'Took it just now.' He says. My tired eyes look down at our hands. 'There's nothing you can do so please go to bed, you're tired.' He says. 'Comfort.' I say. 'Huh?' I look up at him. 'I can comfort. Keep you warm and stuff.' I say. He smiles softly 'you're tired.' He says again. 'So are you.' I say. He looks down 'that's different.' He mumbles. 'No. You're not gonna go through this alone.' I say as I pull my legs up to my chest and get the remote. 'Amelia...' I move under the blanket with him and wrap myself around his arm. 'Let's watch a movie till you feel well enough to sleep.' I say. 'I.... I really don't have anything to say, do I?' He asks as I turn the tv on. 'You learn quick.' I say jokingly.

We watch a movie.
A little into the movie my eyes get heavy and I have a hard time staying awake. I lay my head on his shoulder. He takes a deep breath and coughs every once in a while. 'Are you comfortable?' I ask. 'Very.' He answers as he pulls me a little more into his side. I sigh and close my eyes. I was meant to stay awake and comfort him, but cuddled up against his side, warm and comfortable, I don't think I can last that long.

A flash comes from outside before rumbling. It's comfortable like this. 'I'm feeling a little better.' Corpse says. I shift to look at his face to see he's still pale. 'You sure?' I ask. 'Mhm.' He gets up and holds out his hand, making me yawn at the thought of going back to bed finally. Nearly two hours have passed by now and soon dawn will come. I lay down as corpse goes to close the curtains 'wait.' I say. He looks at me surprised 'please don't close them, I want to watch the lightning.' I say as I hide half my face under the covers again. Corpse goes to lay down at well, surprising me when he kisses my head. When I turn around to look at him, he's facing his back to me. I smile and turn back to the window, falling asleep to the sound of rain and thunder.
