Trustworthy help

3. Break in.

Seeing how Sean asked me to join him and his friend in among us again, I start up my pc. When it's done I fill in the discord code. While getting a message from corpse. I click on it.

Corpse: hey, heard you are joining :)

You: Jup :D

Corpse: nice.

You: it's been a while, huh.

Corpse: Sure has.

I fill in the code and join the chat. 'Amyyyyy!' I laugh 'Hey Tina.' I say. 'You actually came.' Sean says. 'Tch. You knew I would.' I answer. Dan, Sykunno, Dave, Felix and Rae greet me with a hello. 'It's nice to talk to you guys again!' I say. 'Yeah you too!' Rae says back. After a bit corpse joins too. 'Hey corpse.' Sykunno says. 'Hello.' He says in his deep voice. The guy who helped me out three times now pops up in my head. They sound way to similar. While playing the game I decide to take out my phone and text the person who is so called C. It may just be coincidence that Corpse starts with a C too.

You: hey.

I didn't really know what to say so I may as well just start off with saying hi. When I look back up I get killed by Felix, but am soon distracted by my phone buzzing.

C: hello :)

I narrow my eyes at the smiley. It can't be the same person, right? I bring my attention back up to the game. 'Oh no! Amy's dead.' Rae says. 'Okay. I don't know who Killed her but you're going to pay.' Corpse says. That's definitely the same voice.

You: sorry I don't really know what to say I just wanted to see if you'd answer.

Being honest may be the best. The answer is quick.

C: of course. Anything going on?

You: I'm playing a game with some friends online.

It takes a second for him to reply as I watch toast getting voted out.

C: any fun.

Should I just be upfront with him? I tap my fingers on my desk. Maybe I should.

You: sorry to bring it up again, but there's this guy that sounds exactly like you.

He reads the message but doesn't answer. I hear some yelling in the game. The proximity chat is really funny sometime. 'Amy.' The low voice makes me look up at the screen. 'Oh Hey! Dead to?' I ask. 'Yeah.' He says with a chuckle 'did you get killed by Felix?' I ask. 'No, Dan.' I nod as if he can see me. 'So you texting somebody?' Corpse asks. My jaw drops. He'd only know if he'd be C. 'H-how do you know?' I ask. 'I knew you'd figure it out eventually.' He says. 'Figure out what?' Rae asks as she comes up in game. 'Nothin.' Corpse says. 'Sure, Sure.' Rae says. Corpse wants to talk again but a meeting comes up.

You: so you're really him?

C: yeah.

I look up at the screen. No way.

The game ends, the crew mates having won. 'Good game.' I say as the others do to. Leo barks in the living room, making me turn and look at the door. 'Who's dog was that?' Sykunno asks. 'Mine.' I say. 'Why'd He bark?' Sean asks  as Rae gets exited for me having a dog. He barks twice again 'Amy, what going on?' Corpse asks. 'I don't know....' I say. I hesitate, not knowing if I want to go and check it out. I hear a click before a loud bang.

'Hey what's going on over there?' Tina asks.

'Wait give me a second.' I say as I get up. 'Be careful!' Rae says. I take out my pocket knife and heavy iron flashlight. 'I'm going to check it out.' I say.
I slowly open the bedroom door and walk out. I turn the light on before walking on. Leo is growling as I walk into the living room. The door to my back yard is open, having knocked over the big plant that was standing behind it. I turn my flashlight on as Leo barks again. I notice that the door is damaged, it looking like someone forced it open.

'Leo, come here!' I whisper loudly. Leo turns and comes my way. I take him to my bedroom where Pebbles, my cat is too. 'Ey!' I jump at the man's voice and hurry into the room, happy that it has a lock on it. 'There's someone in my fucking apartment.' I say as I reach the pc. 'No fucking way!' Rea says sounding scared. 'Call the cops.' Dan says. 'I'm coming there. Stay put.' Corpse says. I take out my phone and dial 911. As the phone rings the man tries to open the door. 'Fuck off! What do you want?!' I yell. '911, what your emergency?' A females voice says. 'Someone broke into my apartment.' I say. There is a bang against my door as I see a crack in the wood. 'I'm on the phone with the cops!' I yell, hoping it'll make the man back off. I give my address to the woman on the phone. Another bang and the crack gets bigger. Gun! I have a gun. I hurry to my closet. 'Cops are on their way, ma'am. Try to stay calm.' The woman says. 'I know, I know.' I say as I reach for the box. 'Amy? Are you still okay?' Sean asks over discord. Another bang and the door handle falls to the ground. 'I have a gun! Back off!' I yell as Leo barks.

'Amy corpse says he's heading your way, does he live close by?' Sykunno asks. 'I don't-' the door opens, showing the man with a bat. Sykunno words repeat themselves 'wait no! Tell him to stay away.' I say as I lift my gun. 'The fuck do you want from me?' I ask. The man grins as he steps into the room, Leo barking like crazy. 'I'll fucking shoot! Get the fuck out.' I say.

I hear bangs on the front door. No. The man turns and heads for it. I head out of the bedroom and pull the trigger, shooting into my wall. The man freezes 'that was a warning. Next one won't be.' I say as I'm tense with adrenaline. 'Amy!' Corpse yells as he bangs on the door. The man runs into my hall, to the door. I can't kill the man. Before the man reaches the door, Leo makes a break for him and bites into the man's leg. 'Corpse! Back door!' I yell. I hear footsteps going away. The man kicks Leo off of him, making Leo whine.

The man gets up as I hear someone run up behind me. 'Fuck.' Corpse says out of breath. Where the fuck are the cops. The man walks up to me, step by step, limping a little. Corpse pulls me aside, taking a knife out of his pocket. The man lifts his bat to swing it at corpse but Leo has gotten up and is going at the man again, teeth sinking into his leg. Because of that corpse can take the bat from the man. I put the gun on save and turn it in my hand so I'm holding the barrel. 'Hey' I say. The man moves up, turning his head to me. I smack him across the face with the iron pistol. Right then I hear cops pull up to the building. Corpse opens the front door as I keep my pistol pointed at the man. He tries to get off of the ground. Leo barks at the back door, making me turn to see that the cops are trying to get into my yard. Not looking at the man, I get pushed back, hitting my head against the kitchen counter as he dashes past me. Corpse tries to get to me but cops step in 'hands in the air!' One of them yells at corpse. 'No...' I say weakly as my ears ring and my head feels like exploding. 'Sir, step back from the woman!' They warn again. Corpse gets up and steps back, removing his mask before putting his hands in the air. 'He's in the bedroom.' He says. 'Check the bedroom.' The cop says as two others head there. 'Please I'm her friend.' Corpse says. I get up, shaking and dizzy. I lower his hand 'He came to help me, it's alright.' I say. 'Did the intruder really go to the bedroom ma'am.' The cop asks as he lowers his gun and walks up to me. 'I... didn't see.' I say, by now noticing the blood  running down the side of my face. 'There's no one there. The window is open.' Someone else says. I groan and hold my head. 'Sit her down.' The cop says. Corpse helps me to my couch. Leo limps to me and sits down at my feet.

We tell everything that happened, with me adding the sounds at my windows some evenings. The cops take the information and leave me alone with corpse and Leo. 'Amy?' I hear faintly from the bedroom. They heard everything. I stand up and wobble on my feet. 'Hang on. What are you doing?' Corpse asks. 'My pc.' I answer. He helps me to the bedroom and I sit down. 'I'm alive.' I say. 'Oh thank god.' I hear Tina say. 'What the hell happened?' Rae asks. 'Are you okay amy?' Sean asks. 'I'm fine.' I say. 'No You're-' I cover corpse's mouth with my hand. 'Wait is that corpse?' Sean asks. 'Well he did say he was going to her.' Sykunno says. I move my hand 'Yeah, it's me.' Corpse says. I explain what happened and end the call.

We sit on the couch as I look from the now unable to close back door, to the broken bedroom door. 'You know it scared me to death when I head that gunshot.' Corpse says as he points at the hole in the wall. 'Sorry.' I say. He chuckles. 'They took my fucking pistol though I have papers for it.' I pout. 'You'll get it back.' We sit in silence as I pull my legs up to my chest. Leo limps to me, wagging his tail. 'I'll need to get you checked at a vet tomorrow.' I say before petting his head. He puts his paw on my leg, making me smile.

What a fucking evening.
