It's four in the morning as we drive to the military airfield. Corpse is quiet as he sits next to me. I don't know what to say. I'm leaving and there's nothing else to it. So what can be said.

We arrive at the airfield and corpse walks with me to the group. 'Morning.' I say to the ones that already stand alone. The others are saying bye to family. 'Ma'am, we really want you with us.' Brooks says. 'We don't know how Eversman leads.' Dolsen adds. 'You won't know until he does, so give it a chance, I'll be making plans with him at base before you guys leave for field.' I say. They sigh. Corpse's cough makes me turn my attention back to him.

'Come here for a second.' I say as I take him with me by his hand. We stop a little further away and a little out of sight. Corpse pulls me in for a hug and breathes deeply. 'I'll miss you.' I say. He squeezes me a little tighter. 'I'll miss you too.' He says. He pulls back to look me in the eyes 'promise to call.' He says. 'Of course I will.' I say back as he still holds my waist so I stand close to him. 'Promise to take care of yourself and the pets for me.' I say. 'I promise.' He says. I smile at him 'don't mess up like the first time with pebbles.' I say with a laugh. I see he doesn't want to laugh, but he does. 'I'll try, I'll try.' He says. 'Good.' I hug him again. 'Uhm, ma'am, we have to go.' Jackson says. I look at him before looking at corpse. He pats corpse's back before walking off to the other guys. 'I'll be back, I promise.' I say before I kiss him. When I want to break the kiss, corpse holds my cheek so it lasts longer. When we do break apart, we're both in tears. 'I love you.' He says. 'I love you too.' I say before having to let him go and walk over to the group. The guys pat me on my back and shoulder to console me.

I can't make myself look back.

'So what you want to do is make more options.' I tell Eversman who is sitting next to me. He and Jackson are on either side of me as the rest of the people on the plain sleep. Eversman is nervous. 'Listen to me. Calm down. We'll make the plan together, you and Jackson make it work.' I say. He nods. 'You being nervous isn't going to help anyone, be confident, so the other don't have to worry.' I say. 'But I can't, I don't know if it'll go well or if I do good.' Eversman says. 'You never do. No one does. Dude I was sweating balls every time we went into the field. If I showed his nervous i was every time, would that have helped all of you?' I ask. 'No.' He answer. 'No, exactly. It's you and the plan, with Jackson backing you up. You never know if the plan is right or if it'll work. Just make it work. Always have a plan B. Hell, even a plan C wouldn't hurt.' I say. He nods. 'But you'll help with the plan right?' He asks. 'If I have the time, yes.' I answer. He lets out a breath. 'Come on, you'll do just fine, otherwise I wouldn't have made the decision.' I say.

We arrive at the base. We all get out and head to where we need to sleep. I get split off from the guys, seeing how I need to sleep with the medical teams. It's a luxury because we get a room with four, while in the ground forces you sleep with 18 in a room. I start to unpack and get to know the people I share a room with before heading to my guys.

I open the door to find all of them quietly unpacking their things. It's unlike them, normally they're hyped up. 'What the hell is this?' I ask as I close the door behind me. They look up. 'Lighten the fuck up, where is the normal mood?' I ask. They all smile a little. 'My god, you're all quiet, while normally I'd need earplugs to be able to stand in the same room.' I say. A couple of them chuckle 'Come on fellas. It's the same job. Be a little more enthusiastic so I can enjoy being here too.' I say. A towel lands on my head and some of them laugh. I take it off my head to see that it was smithy who threw it. 'Come here you fucker.' I say as I run over to him. Jumping over bags as he moves from top bunk to another, finally they all loosen up. I pull smithy off of the top bunk, making him laugh as he lays on the floor. 'The hell you think you're doing huh?' I ask with a laugh as I tie the towel around both his legs. They finally start go mess around, making me smile. Though Eversman stands in the corner by his bunk, looking it over. 'Reassure them, they need it.' I say. He nods before I walk out.
