The plain lands.

I help Jackson to his feet.

We walk out while he leans on me, me carrying both our bags. He demanded to fly with us, instead of all the sick or wounded. That way he would have been brought to the hospital immediately, but he didn't want that.

We both struggle to walk out and to the crowd. It's messy and mixed with different units. Jackson's wife runs up, his son in her arms. 'Rick!' She says as she rushes to his side and looks him over before pulling him in and kissing him. 'Alive once more.' He says. She chuckles with tears in her eyes.

His son reaches for him 'daddy.' He says as he wants Jackson to hold him. 'I'm sorry bud, I can't carry you right now.' Jackson says as he pats his head.

'I'll get going, I'll bring your things to base.' I say as I let him go. 'Thanks.' He says. Nod and smile at his wife before walking off.

'Smithy?!' A young woman that looks like smithy himself runs around in a panic, tears in her eye. 'Where is he?' His grandpa say as he looks around as well.

I clench my jaw before walking to them.

'Are you family of Smithy's?' I ask, already knowing the answer. 'Yes.' She says. She's shaking lightly as their grandfather walks up and warps his arm around her. 'Sir.' I say with a nod. 'Where is my grandson?' He asks. A tear leaves the girls eyes. 'He's alive.' I say as I take out a pen and small notebook. I write down the address and the information they'll need.

I hand it over.

'He got hurt, he's been transferred to the military hospital in the city. That's the address, give them him military number so they know who you're looking for.' I say. The girl hugs me 'thank you.' She says as he cries. I pat her back. 'Can you tell me what happened?' His grandfather asks. 'He and his unit left for a mission, later I got brought in and told that they were cornered and some were wounded, I don't know what exactly happened.' I say. He pats my shoulder and the girl lets go of me. 'You got him out?' He asks. I nod and spot corpse behind the man. 'I'll have to go.' I say. 'Thank you for saving my grandson.' He says. I smile 'just doing my job sir.' I say before walking off.

I try to hurry to corpse as he looks around in a hurry, Selene with him as well. I groan as the muscles in my torso ache, both bags being too heavy as my muscles are damaged. Corpse notices me and jogs over, making me smiles though the pain.

'Lieutenant!' Someone calls out before he reaches me, making him slow down and keep his distance. 'Lieutenant, are you in charge of the 15th?' The woman asks. I've never seen her before 'I am.' I answer. 'My husband went with your men.' She says. 'Who is your husband?' I ask. 'Lars Holland.' She says. I haven't heard of that name before. 'Ma'am, Sargent Eversman was in charge of the missions, he may know more. Your husbands name is unfamiliar to me.' I say. 'You didn't go into the field with them?' She asks. 'I'm a nurse ma'am. I didn't.' I say. 'But he was with your men, do you really not know anything?' She asks desperately. 'What position is he on?' I ask. 'He's a medic and he was with your men.'

I stare at the woman in front of me.
Oh no.
