I unlock and get inside, drenched by rain. Corpse head turns quickly before he gets up. 'Where have you been?' His voice sounds rough as his eyes are a little red. He wants to hug me, but I hold his arm before slipping past him. 'Just went for a walk.' I say. I make my way through the living room and to the stairs. 'Why didn't you say you left? You scared me.' He says. I can't look at him as I make my way up the stairs 'I'm sorry, I didn't mean to.' I say.

I quickly get some clothes and head into the shower.
The water is warm on my skin as I close my eyes.

A soft knock sounds on the bathroom door 'I'm heading out for a bit.' Corpse says from the other side of the door. 'Okay.' I say back. I didn't mean to scare him or make him upset. And I know that pushing past him like that is mean too, but I don't feel like getting comfort. I don't feel like I deserve that. Not from him.

After nearly 45 minutes in the shower, I get out. I slip on underwear and one of corpses hoodies and head downstairs. I sit on the couch and stare into the distance before starting to cry. I'm a terrible girlfriend. I can't help him when he really needs me to. I don't know what to say when he gets upset at me. I barely talk to him when I'm feeling down. He was scared just now. And then I'm not even talking about the work part. I won't be able to always be home. I won't be able to not leave for moths on end for a deployment. And then what. I'll leave him on his own for that long? That's just rude, and opposite of what I promised.

I hear the click of the front door unlocking, and quickly dry my tears. I hear corpse take off his shoes before walking into the living room. 'Hold up your hands.' He says. 'What?' I ask. 'Just hold them out.' He says again. I do as he says. He lays Bimbus in both my hands. I look up in surprise. 'He's okay!' I say happily. Corpse smiles softly as he walks around the couch before kneeling in front of me. 'I knew he'd make you smile at least a little.' He says. I look at corpse and my face gets sad again. 'Baby, what is up with you. You left without a word, and quickly moved passed me when you got back.' He says. He doesn't seem mad. 'I'm really sorry.' I say as I start to cry again. 'Hey, darling, it's okay.' Corpse says as he places his hand on my knee. 'I'm so sorry.' Corpse carefully takes Bimbus and lays him down on a fluffy pillow before pulling me in for a hug. 'It's fine. You need time and space. That's fine.' He says. 'But I-I..... I'm bad to you.... and I....' corpse cups my face with his hands 'You're really not, though we could work on our communication.' He says with a chuckle. I cling to his neck as he holds me to him 'I'm sorry for leaving like that.' I say as I bury my face in the crook of his neck, being greeted by his warmth and smell. 'It's okay.' He says as he rubs my back. I sniffle and lay my chin on his shoulder 'Bimbus survived.' I say softly as I look at the little kitten with stitches across his belly. 'Mystery kitten, like you said.' He says. I move my legs around his waist so I can cling to him even more. 'I missed you.' I mumble into his skin. 'I missed you too even though it was just for an hour.' He says. I giggle.

We sit like that until I fall asleep.
