106. Warm and comfortable

I stare at the woman in front of me.

'Medic?' I ask. 'Yes.' She answers. I look at the little kid that's holding her hand and clench my jaw. 'I'm sorry.' I say as I look her in the eye. She tears up 'What for?' She asks, already seeming to guess. 'You should go to the main building, miss. They'll have his things there.' I say with a sad look. She starts to cry. 'He's dead?' She asks. 'I'm so sorry.' I say back. She starts to sob, so I pull her in for a hug. She clings to me as the small girl looks at me. I pat her head as she has tears in her big eyes. The woman lets go of me. 'I'm sorry. I wish I could give you anything. I say. 'They- they have his things?' She asks. I nod 'at the administration, go ahead and ask.' I ask. She nods 'thank you.' She says before walking off.

I close my eyes and sigh.

I get hugged, and just by the way of how, I know it can only be one person. I open my eyes to find Selene looking at us with a sad smile. 'Welcome back.' Corpse says as he pulls back. One of the backpacks slips off my shoulder and I catch it with my arm, but I causes sharp pain in my side. Corpse quickly takes it from me. I grab his shoulder to stand up straight before i step closer to kiss him. He holds me by my waist as he kisses back. 'What's wrong?' He asks after we broke the kiss. 'Ripped some muscles.' I say. He flinches and hold my arm. 'Amy, do you know where Liam is?' Selene asks. 'He's in the hospital, recovering.' I say. 'Oh.' she says as he looks away. I place my hand on her shoulder.r 'he'll be okay, we'll go to him tomorrow.' I say. She smiles and nods.

We head home, me falling asleep in the back seat.

'Darling.' I gently get shaken awake. I mumble something while blinking open my eyes. Corpse smiles softly. 'We're home.' He says. He helps me out of the car. 'I need a shower.' I say as he gets my bag for me. 'You have all the time for it.' He says. I nod as we walk inside. We stand in the elevator as it goes up. 'There bags are heavy.' Corpse says as he moves it higher into his shoulder. I hum in response.

When inside pebbles meows loudly, happy to have my back. 'Hey Pebbie.' I say as I lift her up. She purrs and meows in my arms. 'Hi.' I say as she licks my jaw. She rubs her head against me. 'Oh its nice to see you too buddy.' I say as I pat her. She purrs loudly, making me giggle.

After a bit I set her back down and head upstairs to shower.
I sigh as the warm water runs down my back.

When I'm done washing up, I sit down under the shower. The water lands on my head as I close my eyes. This is nice and warm. There's a soft knock on the bathroom door 'Amelia, dinner is ready.' Corpse say. 'Coming.' I say as I stiffly get up. I turn the shower off and get out.

The smell makes me hungry as I walk into the kitchen. 'You made my favorite.' I say before I even see the food. Corpse looks at me over his shoulder and smiles. 'Oh I love you.' I say as I lean against his back, looking over his shoulder at the food. He holds the plate weirdly in his hand. 'How are the arms?' I ask as I rubs them a little. 'Could be better, but don't worry about it.' He says as he scoops some food onto the plate. 'It's my job to worry about you.' I say as I kiss the back of his neck. He chuckles before turning around and handing me a plate. 'You put on a lot.' I say with a chuckle. 'You must be hungry.' He says before kissing my head and walking past me with a plate of his own. I smile as I follow him to the couch. Selene is already eating as we sit down. I lean against corpse, warm and comfortable. 'I'll cook a lot of food tomorrow so I can bring Evan and Liam something too. Hospital food doesn't taste too good.' I say. Selene looks up at the mention of smithy. 'That's nice of you.' Corpse says as he wraps one arm around me after having set his plate down.

'Corpse.' I whine as he takes to long getting ready for bed. He chuckles as he changes while having his back to me 'just give me a second.' He says. 'I want you....' I'm too tired to add the word here. 'What?!' He asks in shock. 'Hmm?' I hum. He walks over and sits down on the bed. 'Tell me I didn't just hear you say that.' He says. I hum again, making him huff. I feel him lay down as well, so I wiggle my way over to him. When wrapped around his arm and chin on his shoulder, I smile satisfied. 'Nighty.' I say. He kisses my head 'goodnight.'
