SIDE STORY PT. TWENTY NINE

I couldn't move, I couldn't hear, I couldn't touch, I couldn't smell, I couldn't..feel. Not until Cole gently touched my shoulder. "It's been 5 minutes.." I flinched at his touch and realized I was still at the beach, I didn't know why or how but I had disassociated again. I mentally face palmed and silently thanked him. I went to walk away, but in the corner of my eye I saw Cole was following me. "I want to make sure you get home safe. Do you have your keys?" I nodded, "they're in my jacket. I guess I'm leaving tonight." I sighed and let him rest his hand on my back. And with that touch he led me to the cliff once again, but this time instead of his words enchanting me. The moon did. I picked up my jacket and got lost in the light. "It's so pretty..." I whispered to myself. Then I felt the weight of a jacket on my shoulders. It was Coles over coat. "I know. But Cmon, I don't want you to freeze." I exhaled through my nose and turned, just to find Cole standing a little too close. I stepped back but almost fell into the ocean again. That's until Cole caught me by my shoulders and brought me closer. I looked up from his strong smell of pine and saw a man with a comforting yet concerning smile. But in that moment I saw his eyes, like really saw his eyes. I could tell the pain was there, I could see the trauma and anger that had built up. "Cole?" "It's fine, let's go home." I slowly nodded once again and we walked to my car. His jacket flowed in the air behind me and he ate it up. I felt comfortable next to him, like he was the only one who shared my point of view.

As soon as we got into the car I asked where he wanted me to drop him off. He told me he wanted to help me get my things before he left. I appreciated the kind offer and drove back to the house, getting kind of nervous about seeing Tanner. But when I got there the lights were off and the door was unlocked. 'Of course' ;but to my surprise, I walked in and saw no one. I excused it and told Cole where my stuff was. Once he picked up my luggage we left. I didn't want to be in that place any longer than I had to. I yawned and told myself 'I need to go to a store and get a coffee before I leave.' I got to the car and was going to get in the front seat when Cole's hand stopped me. "What?" I asked. "Let me drive you, you're tired." I sighed, "no, no it's fine. I can drop you o-." "Luna." He grabbed my chin and lifted it roughly to look at his face. "I can tell you're tired, and I know you're sad so please.." he came closer to my face. "Let me drive you home." My heartbeat increased and I was confused, but let him drive me back home.

I woke up in a hotel room, covered in sheets and naked underneath. "What the hell?" I asked myself with a tired voice. I looked around and saw a trash can, with a filled condom inside. I turned around to face the body next to me "Luna? Why didn't we go back to our place?" She didn't answer and was asleep so I reached out for her "why did we come here..." I stopped my hand mid way when I noticed her hair was black and not the usual curly brown. Then I took a look at the back of her shoulder, and didn't see the beauty mark that I loved to kiss after. This wasn't Luna..

I shot up, worried at what I had just done. I grabbed my clothes and charged to the bathroom. 'Did I just cheat on Luna?' My mind was scrambling at confusion. 'She didn't deserve this, she didn't deserve my infidelity.' I put on my clothes and brushed my teeth, quickly combing my hair in the process and trying to hide the hickeys. Once I finished I calmly and quickly stepped out. But as I was about to open and twist the doorknob of the front door I was stopped with hands wrapping around me in a sensual manner. "Cmon Tanner, stay in bed for a while." Her raspy voice spoke. "I can't, I have a girlfriend. I have to go." She giggled "no you don't." Her voice was teasing, like this is some silly game or shit. "Yes I do." "No you don't, remember.." I furrowed my eyebrows and let her remind me. "After your guys' whole scene last night, you were a little mad and..." she got on the tips of her toes and whispered to my ear. "You go a lot faster when you're mad..." another giggled left her mouth as I remembered everything. The dive, the yelling and the hook up. I groaned and mentally beat myself up. Pushing off the girl in the process and walking out of the motel room. 'I needed to talk to Luna. No matter the cost. Why the hell did I get drunk?!'
