y/n's pov
"WELL CLEAN IT UP!" vinnie yells. "YOU CLEAN IT. I ALWAYS CLEAN SHIT UP. YOU CAN DO SOMETHING FOR ONCE!" i yell back.

"I ALWAYS DO SHIT. YOU DONT DO ANYTHING. ALL YOU DO IS SIT ON YOUR ASS! I GO TO WORK, YOU DON'T!" he spats. "i wonder WHY?"

"STOP USING YOUR PREGNANCY AS AN EXCUSE!"

"I'M NOT. I PHYSICALLY CAN'T GO TO WORK YET. YOU THINK I REALLY WANNA STAY HERE WITH YOU? I'D GLADLY GO TO WORK BUT I CANT!" i throw my hands in the air.

"i don't know why i'm married to you. you're fucking annoying." he replies bitterly. "i ask myself the same thing. you've changed these past months and it's annoying." i cross my arms.

"YEAH BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER IS FUCKING DEAD. WHO WOULDN'T BE DIFFERENT AFTER THAT!"

"you're acting like it's my fault. I HAD A MISCARRIAGE I CAN'T HELP IT. you think i don't think about that every single day." tears daring to spill.

"MAYBE IF YOU ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT OUR CHILD, SHE WOULD BE HERE RIGHT NOW! I'D RATHER MY DAUGHTER BE HERE THAN YOU." he retorts.

i stand there and look at him. he genuinely means it. i can read his facial expressions, he really means those words.

"i say the same thing vinnie. i always do. is this why we've been arguing? because i couldn't help what my body does? you don't think i miss her? i feel GUILT EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DAY FOR SOMETHING I COULDN'T CONTROL!"

"you could've tried harder." he mumbles. "you don't get it, do you? THIS MISCARRIAGE AFFECTED ME TOO, NOT JUST YOU. i'm sorry vinnie, i really am that it happened. we couldn't do anything tho." tears falling down my face.

it's quiet, nobody saying anything. i go upstairs and decide to sleep it off.

narrative
vinnie sighs and sits on the couch, his face buried in his hands. did he really mean those words? he loves y/n way too much. he knows how badly this affected y/n and loss of their child.

i guess the fact that he lost his daughter is what's hurting him the most and he's taking his anger out on y/n.

he decided to talk to his wife and try to calm things down. they've been arguing for the past months, everyday. beginning from when their child died.

before vinnie opens the door, he hears sobs and sniffles from the other side of the door. he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, opening the door.

"y/n... i'm sorry." "you say the same thing all the time vinnie. i can't do it anymore."

those words made vinnie's heart race. is he really gonna lose the love of his life right now? "wha-what do you mean?" he stutters.

"vinnie i can't give you a child right now and it's obviously something you really want. go with somebody who can give you a child. i'm not that person." y/n takes off her ring and places it in his hands.

"y/n... please don't do this." the man begins to cry. "vinnie... we're arguing too much. i love you so so much but this isn't working. i can't let us both hurt eachother like this. we both deserve better. i'm so sorry." sobs escape her mouth.

"please don't leave me too." he grabs onto his lover's hand.

"i can't vinnie. please- you need somebody who can make you genuinely happy and give you what you deserve. i'm not her. find her and please make her happy. find your person."

"y/n..." he cries. y/n gets up but gets pulled back by vinnie, her body pressed against his as he tightly hugs her. both of them crying.
"please don't leave me. i'm begging you."

"vinnie please stop. you know this isn't working either. you're never gonna get over the fact we lost our child." y/n pulls away making both of them look in eachothers glassy eyes.

vinnie places his hand on y/n's face and slowly leans in kissing her one last time. however, this kiss isn't the same compared to how it usually is. there's no feelings, no connection, no love, nothing.

they pull away and both look at one another thinking, "what happened to us?"

ten years later

y/n drives through her neighborhood and notices that a new family moved in next to her. she smiles at the daughter and dad giggling, having fun with one another.

she gets out the car and makes eye contact with the dad as he turns around. "vinnie...?" she whispers to herself.

the exes both stare at eachother for a while. "he found the one. he found the woman that makes him happy and can give him what he wants."

she can't help but feel sad. it's not that she still has feelings but there was hope in her that they'd find their way back to eachother. guess she was wrong.

vinnie's wife comes up and kisses her husband making y/n look away and walk into her house. vinnie watches his ex wife's every move and sighs.

"what's wrong dad?" his six year old daughter says.
"nothing y/n." he smiles. he named his child y/n to always have his soulmate with him at all times.
