y/n's pov as i finish putting a few hair jewelry in my hair and pat down my dress, i see vinnie frown behind me. "yes babe?" i ask.
"your dress..." he mumbles. "what about it love? "it's revealing..." he says quietly. "vinnie...you know what dev wanted the girls to specifically wear for her 21st birthday" i sigh, making him sigh also.
"we have to go before we're late." i inform him as i put on my shoes. "but the dress..." vinnie groans. "babe, i don't say anything about you with no shirt on tiktok" i reply making him shut up.
"fine.. let's go" he gives up. i grab my clutch and walk out our room.

time skip to them arriving
as we step out the car, we're both greeted by flashing lights and people asking us questions. "how are you guys still together since sophomore year?" "how does 6 years feel together?" "how's social media going?" i hear a few sayings.
we finally make our way into the room and see all the girls wearing a similar dress to mine but in a different color and all the boys wear a tuxedo. i make eye contact with devyn and smiles appear on both our faces.
"GIRLL YOU LOOK SO GOOD!!" she yells as she engulfs me in a hug. "look at YOU!!" i reply while i look down at what she's wearing. a yellow dress with slits on the side with her yellow jordan's.
"vinnie doesn't look to happy" she whispers in my ear. "he's mad because of my dress." i reply making her giggle. "oopsie... now go it's an open bar." she says pushing me to the bar.
i grab vinnie's hand as he sighs. "love, really?" i ask slightly annoyed at him. all the people she invited are like family, can he please relax.
i finish my first drink and look over to see vinnie even more upset and look at what he's staring at. i look over and see my ex boyfriend. oh god...
he looks at me and smirks. i see him make his way over to me and i instantly get uncomfortable. vinnie automatically puts his arm around my waist.
"long time no see y/n. i see your still with this boy right here" mar says. i stay quiet because i don't know what to say. we didn't end things right and he said a few things that didn't sit right with me.
"hey bro, can you please leave her alone. she's not comfortable right now, please don't come over here acting funny." vinnie tells mar. mar just laughs and nods his head.
"can't she talk? she has a mouth. right y/n" he remarks as he puts his finger under my chin. i slap his finger away as vinnie goes infront of me. "please leave. i don't want to make a scene at dev's party." vinnie says in a low tone.
"move back, i wanna talk to y/n weirdo." he says back. vinnie grabs my hand and we walk somewhere else until i feel something slap my butt. both vinnie and i turn around and i look up at vinnie to see him turning red.
"what? she wore THAT dress. what'd she expect. she's dressed like a slut so she'll get treated like one." mar says bluntly.
nobody says anything as vinnie's hand collides with mar's jaw. we see him fall back and vinnie shake his hand off. "next time don't touch my girlfriend or talk to her in such a manner. whatever a woman decides to wear is on her, it doesn't matter if it's revealing or not. don't touch a girl without consent, she can wear what she pleases." vinnie states as we make our way outside.
"i'm sorry, i should've listened to when you didn't want me to wear a dress." i lowly say. "my love, stop. i don't care about the dress. i was just jealous that other boys could see what i have. but, what he did in there wasn't okay. wear what you please." he says as he kisses my cheek.
we walk back into the room and enjoy the rest of the night.
