"you remember vinnie right?" i ask my daughter as i do her little edges. "yeah, he's the uh- the blonde boy i saw on the phone! i like him, he's nice. you're always so happy around him." my daughter smiles.

i smile to myself and finish her hair. "okay baby. you're gonna meet him again and our friends. are you okay with that?" i make sure she's not uncomfortable with the thought.

"YEAH! I'M READY. COME ON!" she gets excited. "lyla. wait love, i have to put on your shoes." i laugh at how excited she is. "hurry ma. hurry!!"

"there done. please grab your jacket and meet me downstairs." i watch her run to her room as i get myself ready.

"just be yourself ly." i remind her as we get out the car and i unlock the door. "THE'YRE HERE!" kio yells. they all come up to us and i feel lyla hide behind my leg. "where's the fetus?" j asks. "idiot she's not a fetus." i laugh and attempt to get her off my leg.

"ly, they're nice. they're not gonna do anything." i whisper to her. "i'm sorry." i apologize about her shyness.

"hey lyla, i'm vinnie." vinnie walks about six feet from her and has his hand out. "are you mommy's boyfriend?" she asks and peeks her head out. "yes i am." he laugh.

i feel her unlatch from my leg and run into vinnie's arm. everybody else laughing at her reaction. "this is maddy." he picks her up in his arms and introduces her to everybody else.

i watch at how comfortable she is with him already and everybody else. "mm, looks like vinnie can be a good dad." liya stands next to me. "yup, it does look like that."

"MA!" lyla yells from vinnie's arms.
"inside voice princess."
"sorry. uhm is vinnie my dad?" her eyes getting glassy.

i look at vinnie and see him smiling, everybody else not knowing what to do. "uhm.." i try to come up with something. "i'm not your actual dad lyla. but i hope i can soon." he looks at me while saying it.

"so so.. how come you never came around before. do you not love me? do you hate me?." she begins to cry.

"no no, ly i do love you. you're only five, it'll make sense soon. but i don't hate you." vinnie tries to calm her down. "mkay." she wipes her tears and starts to smile again.

"damn, you have your mom's emotions." kio remarks making everybody laugh. "DAMN!" i hear lyla yell. "aye, don't say that ly." i shake my head.

••••

"do you think you'll ever have kids with vinnie?" maddy asks. we've been talking to each other while lyla plays with the boys.

"mmm.. i hope so, just not RIGHT NOW."
"makes sense, she seems to love him a lot." maddy says while gesturing over to them.

"ma ma ma!! can i play with liya and maddy now?" she runs into the kitchen and tugs on their arms. "go ahead."
"haha i got all your friends ma!!" she giggles and pulls them towards the living room.

i laugh at her while vinnie walks into the kitchen, sitting down next to me. "hey." he kisses my lips. "hi." he brings me into his chest.

"sorry if i wasn't suppose to say that earlier about that dad thing." vinnie says.
"it's fine, i didn't know what to say anyways. so actually, thank you."

"lyla seems to really like you." i laugh.
"i like her too, she reminds me of you. hopefully we can give her a sibling..." i hear the last part even though i'm sure i wasn't suppose to.

"leave her here and come to my house then." i slightly joke. "wait really?" he gets excited.

"wait, you're serious. you want a child with ME?" i raise an eyebrow. "i mean yeah. i see how good of a mother you are with lyla and i always wanted a child with you."
