y/n's pov
"vinniee, do i HAVE to do to this dinner?" i whine. "yes, you do. emily wants everybody there and plus the group is gonna be there too" he tries to reason. "you know emily doesn't like me. she only invited me for you." i say. he sighs and kisses my head.

"be nice and meet me in the car." he walks out the room. i groan and look at myself in the mirror, giving myself a mini pep talk.

(outift)

time skip to when they arrive

"babe, remember to be nice please. do it for jaylen at least." he guilts me. i sigh and nod my head. we make our way to the front door and ring the doorbell. "AWW YOU GUYS COULD MAKE IT." emily squeals as she opens her door, engulfing us in a hug.

we all make our way to the dinner table and see everybody else sitting. oh we're the last ones... she tells us where to sit and i'm placed between vinnie and maddy. vinnie is sitting next to him and emily's son.

"mom, can i sit next to y/n? i miss going over their house. i haven't seen her in forever." their son, jaylen says. everybody looks at me and i just sit there dumbfounded. i look over at emily and see her face turning red due to anger.

"but i'm your mother j." emily says. "i knoww but y/n is like my other mom. i love her. PLEASEE." he begs. she rolls her eyes and urges him to go trade spots with vinnie.

i feel guilt build in me.

30 minutes into them eating

i've been cutting up jaylen's food because he can't eat big chunks and wants me to do it for him. every time i look up, i see emily rolling her eyes. i try to ignore it and be nice.

"the food it really good emily." i say sincerely. "yeah right. cut the damn act." i hear her mumble. i bite the inside of my cheek and excuse myself from the table.

as i exit the house to get a breath of fresh air, i feel vinnie tug on my arm. "what's wrong love?" he asks. "vinnie she literally doesn't LIKE ME. she never did and she especially doesn't like me since YOU TWO have a child and you still decided to be with me and not her." i rant.

"i know love, i know. but jaylen really loves you and ignore her remarks."

"i cant. she's been saying slick shit for the past 30 damn minutes." i say back. "i know i know but try ONE last time." he begs. i sigh and walk back in the house. we walk in to hear yelling.

both vinnie and i enter the kitchen and emily turns around and points her finger at me. "you skank!! you're tryna steal my son and come here acting all innocent. get out my damn house." she yells at me.

i look around confused and grab my jacket making my way out. "no wait y/n. emily don't come at my girlfriend that way. you constantly try to make me cheat on her and make us a "happy family". jaylen loves y/n more than you. you're not capable to be a mother right now. i'll see you in court, i want full custody of my son." vinnie says making me stop dead in my tracks.

everybody else just looks, the tension in the air. everybody standing there feeling awkward. "jay, come on you're coming with y/n and me." vinnie tells his son. jaylen claps his hand and grabs my hand.

i smile slightly and look at emily still filled with anger. "TAKE HIM I COULD CARE LESS." she says. i look down to see jaylen getting teary eyed. i shake my head and walk us out the house.

i bend down to get eye to eye with him and hug him. "it's okay jay, your mom doesn't mean that. she's just upset, she loves you dearly." i comfort him as he sobs in my chest. i hear vinnie come out the door and see him smile.

"cmon family." he says grabbing my hand.

with that, vinnie got full custody of his son and y/n adopted jaylen as her own.
