y/n's pov
"mom, can we go to the mall?" i hear my son ask me. "d, covid cases are going up. you're not going to the mall. it's not a necessity. do online shopping or something." i say while cooking lunch.
i hear him groan and go upstairs to ask his dad. "dad, mom won't let me go to the mall. can i go please?" he asks vinnie. "uhm, your mom said no so no." he kisses his teeth and walks back to the kitchen.
"no, they won't let me go to the mall. i'm always stuck at home for no reason." my son says. i turn around and look at him. "dj, choose whatever you want online and i'll buy it for you." i try to compromise.
"yeah, i'll pass." he says harshly. "loose the attitude d." vinnie tells him making him roll his eyes. "i need to get an ingredient for the food from the store, you wanna come with me?" i ask dj.
"yeah, sure. you can go to the store but i can't go to the mall." he sasses. "do you wanna go or not?" i ask loosing my patience. he nods his head and we make our way out the house.
time skip to when they arrive
"put your mask on." i tell dj. "WHY? they don't have theirs on, look." he says pointing at a couple not wearing their mask. "i don't care, put it on or you're not coming in." i warn.
"y/n relax on him please." i hear vinnie say in the driver seat. "now when you catch covid don't say anything." i respond. i get out the car and just go in the store.
i look back and see dj without his mask on talking to vinnie. i shake my head and pull his mask up for him. "vinnie what the hell is wrong with you? tell your son to put his mask up idiot." i angrily whisper.
time skip to when they're out the store
"y/n please don't be so harsh on dj." vinnie whispers. "well it's a basic rule. i don't care if other people don't wear theirs. cases are going up and he's gonna wear one. he needs to stop being selfish." i say.
"it's never that serious." vinnie says quietly. "it's not serious? oh okay, mr. imma quarantine for two weeks because you got caught at a party. shut up." i say bluntly.
he rolls his eyes and gets in the car.
other time skip to when they're home
"sorry mom for not wearing a mask." dj says lowly. "it's fine, but please wear one. it may be uncomfortable but wear one." i give him a hug.
i walk to vinnie's and i room and he has an attitude. "what's with you today?" vinnie asks. "nothing? wearing a mask shouldn't be a problem v."
"okay but you shouldn't have acted the way you did." he responds back. "you have no room to talk. not wearing a mask is selfish i don't care. i'm not arguing with you about something that determines a person's health." i say, laying down.
