y/n's pov
i wake up and for some reason feel a bit more sad than usual. i ignore the feeling and get ready for school.
i grab my backpack and see something that catches my eye, it's a picture of vinnie and me. i stare at it and all the memories come back.
flashback
3 years ago : december 3rd 2018
it's raining and i forgot to bring my jacket. i quickly walk into the school hallways and shiver. "here take it." some tall boy hands me his sweater. "no it's okay. i don't want you to be cold." i smile politely.
"please take it, i have another one in my locker." the boy puts the sweater over my head. "thank you." i say. "anytime, i'm vinnie by the way."
"i'm y/n." both of us smiling at eachother.
end of flashback
i sigh and make my way to school.
i enter the hallways and see vinnie with his girlfriend. she's wearing the same exact sweater he gave me. expect this time, it wasn't really his. he just bought it because she loved it so much and he didn't want to give her the sweater i once wore.
i walk pass them, trying to get to my locker. we make eye contact and he looks miserable.
3rd person view
the exes make eye contact, both of them still in love. vinnie hates his new girlfriend and y/n knows that.

2 years ago : december third 2019
y/n's pov
vinnie and i have known eachother for a year. we get along pretty well and i really like him. i just don't know how he feels.
vinnie's currently making me walk around the hallways for no reason. "come on." he pulls me out in the freezing cold. "VINNIE IT'S RAINING." i cover my head.
he pulls me back into the hallways and tells me to stay put. he goes to his locker and comes back up to me, holding out his jacket. it's the same one he offered me last year. "here take it." he repeats.
i laugh and grab the jacket. "y/n will you be my girlfriend?" i nod my head and he engulfs me into his wet body.

y/n's pov
i look away and try to get this day over with. i hear his girlfriend giggling and laughing, bragging about how much she LOVESS his sweater.
time skip to lunch
i sit down at a table with the rest of my friends and watch vinnie from a distance. he looks unhappy but i can't do anything. he made a choice and went with it.
i watch as he smiles and kisses his girlfriend. i'm glad he's happy...
flashback
1 year ago : december 3 2020
"hey vinniee" i say brightly, as it's our one year anniversary. "hey y/n..." he trails off as heather walks through the door. i look back and see them smile at eachother.
his eyes full of lust as she walks by, per usual. i really can't hate her, she's an angel. everybody loves her and wishes they were her.
"hey heather." vinnie blushes. "hey vinniee" she giggles. i can't help but wish she was dead. they get into their own conversation and i automatically become the third wheel.
i walk away and go to my class.

i see vinnie and heather laughing up a storm. i walk up to vinnnie and ask if i can talk to him really quickly.
"what y/n?" he groans. "do you like her?" i ask. "no?"
"vinnie, if you do just tell me. don't waste my time." i sigh. "i- i don't know, okay?! i'm just confused." he lets out. "got it." i smile weakly. i take off the sweater he gave me two years ago and hand it to him.
"y/n.." "it's okay vinnie. find somebody who makes you happy." i walk away before i cry.

i see vinnie walk up to my table and grab my hand. "vinnie what are you doing?" i ask as he pulls me outside. why is it always raining on this day?
he pulls me back inside, repeating his actions two years ago. "vinnie..." i say lowly. he hands me his sweater. "what about heather?"
"i broke up with her. i made the wrong decision, i shouldn't have let you go. i'm sorry, i really am." he apologizes.
"i still love you." he adds on. i stare into his hazel like eyes and see the sparkle he always had. "i still love you too."
