How troublesome.

Lin Ye stared at the newcomers. They didn't look strong individually, but the problem is, there were simply too many of them. Meanwhile, Swire was slumping against his shoulder. She'd lost too much blood and was now having difficulty breathing. That being said, it really surprised Lin Ye, when she managed to defeat two enemies after being stabbed in the stomach. If it weren't for her concern about his safety, she wouldn't have been hurt this badly.

Yato was right. There were some things that effort alone just couldn't make up for, especially racial strengths. In that regard, humanity really was the worst of the worst.

But despite her injuries, Swire was still trying to get back on her feet. She may be the mistress of some rich family, but she'd gone out of her way to fight for Lin Ye, even though they had just met each other.

This is her will, the will of LGD's senior superintendent.

However, there were some things that willpower just couldn't overcome.

No matter how she tried, she couldn't lift her arms at all anymore.

"I'm sorry," she whispers.

"Don't apologize." Lin Ye shakes his head, "You saved my life."

"Tsk. You don't need to comfort me. I'm responsible for my own actions.", she coughs out some blood, "This, this might be it... If we die-"

"I think you're tired. Just leave the rest to me." Lin Ye sighs.

Walson laughs, "Swire, haha, it's over for you! Can you believe it?"

Lin Ye puts Swire down slowly, "I'll find a way out. Stay here."

"Find a way out?" Walson clenches his fists, "You want to live? Keep dreaming."

*Sniffle*

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry..." Swire sniffles, "I-I didn't want to get you involved. I shouldn't..."

Lin Ye pats her shoulder in silence.

Then, he just picks up the sword next to him and breathes out slowly.

Then he glances back at Swire with a small smile, "Everything will be alright. Don't cry. Have some faith in me. okay."

Walson snickers, "If I'm not mistaken, you're just a human, right? The most ordinary kind? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Who the fuck are you to point that thing at me? If you chop her head off, I might even consider letting you go. What do you think?"

"Shut your fucking mouth," Lin Ye spits at him, "damn eunuch."

"Tsk." Walson points at Lin Ye and shouts, "Kill them!"

"..."

Lin Ye was mad. His blood was practically boiling right now. If he were a dog, he would freaking tear that bastard's head off from his shoulder by now.

But he needed to stay calm.

And be calm.

If he wanted to leave here alive with Swire, he can't just be reckless. He needed to think with a clear mind and use whatever that's available to him.

Ten enemies...

He can't win.

Even if he does his best.

When the terrorists begin slowly closing in, Lin Ye lowers his center of gravity, as if he's a tiger, ready to pounce on his prey. Then, he holds his sword with his right hand and leans to the left to grab another from the fallen swordsmen. At the same time, he narrows his eyes and focuses on his enemies' every move, while trying to hear the waves.

He remembers what Skadi told him.

In this world, other than those ancient monstrous beings that dwell in the abyss, nothing could stop the waves. To humans, the ocean was unconquerable, its waves catastrophic.

And standing in front of this incoming Catastrophe, Lin Ye can see no sun, no sky. Everything is about to be swallowed in any second.

He is minuscule in front of the waves.

Yet, one strike.

In one stroke, with everything on the line, he swings his swords. Even if he were to fail, he would die trying.

There was no technique, just sheer brute force. Yet, his swords were closing in on his enemies in a flash of light.

Nobody expected this from him, not Swire, not Walson, not even the terrorists about to attack him.

The first slash cuts an enemy in halves along with his sword.

The second slash pierces the next enemy's stomach, followed by the third slash that nails his head on the wall.

And the waves are split.

Lin Ye stares at Walson, as the terrorists run away in terror.

Walson gulps audibly. He steps back, almost staggering, as Lin Ye limps toward him. This... insect that he had looked down on was now the very being that dictated his life. He moves to defend himself, but Lin Ye slices his arms off in an instant.

It's over.

Lin Ye presses his blade on Walson's neck.

"You lost."
