Two hours before work ends, Lin Yie sees Ptilopsis walking in.
"Dr. Lin," Ptilopsis shakes her ears slightly, "Operator Ptilopsis reporting for duty."
Lin Yie nods, "You came pretty early."
"Ptilopsis thanks you for your praise."
"Do you really think I was praising you?" Lin Yie sighs, "Didn't you say you would come early?"
Ptilopsis tilts her head, "System Error. Missing required files."
Lin Yie shakes his head helplessly, "Come help me move this sofa. I'm going to wash my hands... Can you do it?"
Ptilopsis nods, "Please leave it to Ptilopsis. You can die in peace."
"?"
"Repeating instruction. You can wash in peace."
Does she actu-maybe it's because of Oripathy...
He stares at Ptilopsis, but she doesn't show any change of expression, as if she doesn't know what she said.
Lin Yie sighs and goes to the restroom on the other side of the hallway. He can only hope his other two assistants are normal. If a psychologist's assistants are all crazy, it may be time for him to reconsider his career.
He walks inside the restroom. He expected it to be dirty, but it's surprisingly clean as if it were cleaned regularly... Maybe someone does use it? Do those weirdos on the fourth floor even clean the restroom? That's strangely ironic.
After washing his hands, Lin Yie goes back to his office, only to see Ptilopsis sleeping on the sofa.
Does she really only come here to sleep?
But before he wakes her up, Lin Yie hears a mature female voice behind him.
"Let her sleep. This kid hardly has time to rest."
Lin Yie turns around and sees a new face.
"Nice to meet you, Dr. Lin," She says lightly, "I'm Saria."
Lin Yie looks surprised.
"Based on your expression, you probably heard about me," Saria says, "So I'll skip the introduction."
Lin Yie says, "Nice to meet you too, Ms. Saria. I'm the new psychologist Lin Yie. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Oh? I have never heard anyone speaking like that," Saria smiles, "It's hard to imagine you are capable of those things."
"Those things?"
"I have a favor to ask of you."
Finally, I can prove my worth.
Lin Yie nods, "Sure, as long as I can do it."
"I'm glad to hear that," Saria says, "Just to let you know, I don't have any ill will toward you."
Lin Yie pauses.
"I heard about your ability from Kal'tsit. It's very mysterious," Saria asks bluntly, "But I want to know if you used it in any dangerous experiments."
"What are you talking about?" Lin Yie says, "I used to work in a pet hospital." He frowns slightly, "I don't recall any dangerous experiments there."
"Pet hospital?" Saria looks surprised for a brief moment. She nods, "Good. I asked because I heard Ifrit really likes you. As her guardian, I have to make sure you are not going to hurt her."
Ifrit... really likes me?
What kind of fairytale is that?!
Lin Yie is speechless.
"Another reason I came is to thank you for saving Ifrit," Saria says,
"To show my gratitude, if it's something I can do, I will do my best to help you. Of course, I also hope you can help me take care of Ifrit... She doesn't accept many people, and very few can tolerate her personality."
Why do you sound like a naughty kid's parent who came to me to help her kid make friends?
Saria says, "There's another favor I want to ask of you. I need you to bring something to Ifrit."
Lin Yie is confused, "Why don't you do it yourself?"
"No," Saria shakes her head, "It's not the time yet."
